The unit lost power completely, no display, lights, microwave, range fan or light.
Checked breakers and outlet, no problems. Removed 20A 250V Ceramic Fuse from unit, no continuity when tested.
Replaced Fuse, plugged in, and the breaker tripped. tried to reset breaker but it trips again instantly with the microwave plugged in. There is no signs from the microwave no momentary lights, sounds, smells, etc.
Where should I look next. Also my whirlpool didn't have a wiring diagram under the control panel, so all i have are the
The problem was a defective switch. There are 3 switches on mine. 1 on the top door latch, and 2 on the bottom. one of the switches on the bottom connected the power and neutral together, unless it was activated at the same time as the other 2, causing the breaker to trip or the internal fuse to blow. When unhooking the wire going from this switch to the other switch, everything works great now. Though I still need to replace the switch.
And for Basic 1. Yes my microwave did have a fuse in it it's ceramic, I got a pack of them at Radio Shack 4 for 3$ 250V 20 Amp. There should be a wiring diagram inside the microwave, mine was inside a black bag, so it may be hard to see.
Mine was up top next to the fuse behind the Plastic Grill and then a small metal grill. Some are behind the control panel, to fix this remove the screw at the top and then slide the control panel up and it should unhinge.
SOUNDS LIKE ONE OF THE SWITCHES IS DEFECTIVE.
VISUALLY INSPECT THE BUTTON ON EACH OF THE SWITHCES AND SEE IF ONE OF THEM DOESN'T POP BACK OUT WHEN RELEASED, OR IS WEAK.(NOT MUCH SPRING TENSION). IF ONE IS BAD, REPLACE IT. BE SURE TO DISCONNECT POWER BEFORE INSPECTIONS.
IF YOU HAVE THE MICRWAVE PLUGGED IN AND THE CIRCUIT BREAKER TRIPS IMMEDIATELY WHEN SET,
CHECK THE DOOR HOOKS THAT TRIP THE DOOR SWITCHES. BOTH SHOULD BE SPRING LOADED. THERE SHOULD BE TWO HOOKS ON THE DOOR. IF O.K., CHECK THE DOOR SWITCHES. THERE ARE AT LEAST THREE. IF ONE OF THEM IS SHORTED CLOSED,
THE MONITOR SWITCH WILL CAUSE A DEAD SHORT ACROSS THE FUSE. THE FUSE MAY BE HOLDING BETTER THAN YOUR CIRCUIT BREAKER.

I have now diagnosed that if I open the door I can turn on the Breaker, but as soon as I close it the breaker blows.
I have found that the wires coming from the bottom of the lower door switch to the top of the microwave, after unplugging this lead, the light inside the microwave stays on, and the display on the control console came on. I can use the range light and fan now, but when I enter a time into the microwave it, but when I hit the start button it beeps at me 3 times and does nothing, probably because it thinks the door is open the output from the switch that goes to the top of the unit also had a small lead that went to the control unit.
my whirlpool micro just died, no light, no fan, no nothing. is there a fuse, i can change, the electrical outlet is fine.MH7130XEB-1
