You need to replace the disc tray belt,it streches with age.It is called a square belt,size 1.9.To open try tapping on TOP of cabinet with your knuckles just above the disc tray door.While you are doing this press the Open button.Once again this must be done at the same time,the door will open 90% of the time.When you get it open you will see the little black square belt,this can be removed and replaced with a twizzers.Make sure belt is in the track if not it will jam and door won't close.

Unable to record

For several months I had a similar problem which was resolved using a cleaning disk. Finally that didn't help. I opened up the DVD recorder - removed a guard to prevent you from looking directly at the laser lens. I gently cleaned the lens with 91% alcohol on a cotton swab and now it records fine!!!!

LG DVD REcorder disc tray will not open

Most likely the tension band that is attached to the mechanical parts of motor and the tray detached. you'll need to disconnect the power and unscrew the cover open and put the band back in place.

yes, most of the dvd recorders are like that. you must read the user guide to find the correct dvd brand to use. i have a toshiba (i can only use maxell, (best) tdk ,dynex (good) and memorex (Ok)) fuji sony pansonic will not record nor play.

There's a slot on the bottom where you can insert a small slotted screwdriver and slide it to the left to get it open.

I put the disc in and then it closes and then opens again and i close it and it opens again. does it need to be cleaned or what?

itis unable to load the disc from tray to the spinning mechanism for playing or recording take it to the repairs there is an assembly problem or loading mechanism problem

No disc kicks disc out

I have the problem of it refusing the disc if the door opens before I have filled the whole disc and finalized it. As long as I don't open the door till the disc is full and finalized, it works.
