Asko Dryer #7305 and F5 code...

I have a Asko Dryer #7305 and it is shutting off using a F5 code, regardless of how small of a load (i.e one towel). Shuts off using timed or moisture program. Per manual, F5 is the moisture sensor. Where is it located, where can I buy one, and how do I replace it? Could it be something else? I have cleaned the unit thoroughly of lint and the clothes/towels have been spinned very dry prior to putting in dryer.

Macmarkus...yes, it will operate with nothing in the dryer. I did find a small mesh thimble shaped object with wires behind black putty in the location you mentioned. Is this the moisture sensor? I cleaned/blew it out with a air compressor, but still getting the code. Could you tell me the part number? Is there any way I could make sure this is the problem before investing in a new sensor?

Thank you very much! I know that the sensors are very expensive, and I wanted to make sure by testing and you helped me greatly. I only cleaned out the mesh thimble...I never checked the board. Hopefully the problem is there and can be an easy remedy. Thanks again!

Hi, Based on the explaination in your post I guess the unit will operate without anything in the dryer, correct ? If that is the case if you remove the lower panel you will reveal a plastic cover over the blower housing. Located on the housing you will find the moisture sensor usually hidden under some black puddy. Remove the gum type puddy and there you will find the sensor held in place. Remove the sensor and clean it out best as you can. Re-install the moisture sensor and give it a test. If that fails to remedy the problem you may indeed require a new sensor. Let me know and I can provide you with a part number or you can visit "repairclinic.com" and enter your model number and a description of the part you need. Hope this was helpful to you. Let me know or rate my info accordingly. Thanks for visiting "fixya" today and good luck. macmarkus :)

    Hello again,

I just read your post and it is getting quite late where I am but I will post back again tomorrow. I have the part number in my Asko literature, but am away from my home pc presently. That IS the sensor by the way, a thimble like device, that is a great description since it does resemble one closely.

I seem to recall a repair tip regarding those unit's in the late 90's early millenium when I worked for Asko but I will need to pull up my older files, please hang in there and I'll have more info asap.

    Thanks again,

    macmarkus :)

    OK,

I pulled up the literature on your dryer and although I didn`t find any "rework" or "repair tip" material I can at least give you the values to look for to determine if the sensor is indeed faulty.

** Unplug the dryer from the wall or turn off the breaker **

Remove the leads of the sensor and with the aid of an ohmeter measuring accross the sensor should supply a reading of 40 - 60k ohms ( thousands ) at a temperature of 86°F - 68°F. ( 20°C - 30°C ). Unfortunately you must do the measuring at the integrated board to which the sensor leads are soldered to. I`ve attached the image below of what to look for.

You`ll also want to check for any wire`s which may have gotten severed from rubbing against the drum or the like. An open circuit will cause the F5 error so you want to be sure it isn`t simply a wire cut or something simple such as that.

Hope this helps move you forward, good luck.

    macmarkus :)

For my Asko 7305 Dryer I removed the lower panel that has a Philip Screw on the left and on the right with a Philip Screw Driver.
I used a * head on the screw driver to remove the plastic face plate and set it aside with the two * screws. I vacuumed the face plate and all the lint that I could see with a flat extension on the vacuum cleaner hose. After that I removed the small steel plate that had 1 * screw and cleaned the first sensor and replaced both. After that I removed the two * screws to the moisture sensor and carefully pulled the black putty off and rolled it into a ball to use it again after cleaning the moisture sensor and replacing the two * screws. After replacing all of the above I tested the dryer with two knee length wool socks on low temp. All worked fine for 10 minutes. After that I placed two flannel shirts in for 15 minutes. All worked fine. End of Report

I have a Asko 7305 dryer, can I have a regular 240volt dryer cord put on it, so I can use existing wall receptacle ?

I think you are asking if you can change the cord from 220 amp to 110 amp so you can use a 110 wall receptacle...NO you cannot not.It would also probably start a fire

F5 code on Asko 7305, can humidity sensor be bypassed?

I've had luck vacuuming the lint and dust out of the humidity sensor on my Asko. Suggest trying that first. While you're in there you might also exercise the connectors at the circuit board end of the sensor's cable(s). If they're corroded, some simple unplugging and replugging a few times might burnish the connectors. I've observed that our dryer will sometimes run longer than necessary on days when the relative humidity is high. Not very often but enough to suspect a trend. If your environmental air is humid, I would wonder if you're experiencing a similar condition. Every couple of years I take the dryer outside and blow it out with the air compressor: air chamber including heater coils as well as all the innards. This also gives me a chance to keep an eye on the belt!

I need a power plug for my asko 7305 dryer and can not find one anywhere

Assuming that you need a 220V connector, they can be purchased at home Depot. They are generally made with about three feet of cable attached. you will have to take the back plate off of the dryer and attach the three leads to the proper termination.

Hello Susan, Welcome to FixYa. Have you checked to see if perhaps one or both of the fuses may have blown at the back of the unit...I don't mean the hi-limit that you already referred to...I mean the in-line fuses the Asko machines are equipped with. Let me know and we can move forward from here. Regards, Macmarkus :)

How to change dryer belt on Asko 7305 dryer

You have to pull the back off the dryer. Then you,ll be able to see how it comes off.Ussally its on two pulleys similar to a car. There may be a tensioner on it to to keep it from slipping. If there is one you,ll have to losen it to remove the belt & replace it,then tighten the tensioner back up.Ussally you keep about a 1/4" to 1/2" free play on the belt. You use a sraight edge on the two pulleys to measure it with the belt on,tighten belt tensioner till you have the recommended tighteness.
