There is no lock on your refrigerator for either door. The lock/unlock button is only for the dispenser to keep small children from dispensing ice or water. If your door won't open it could be a few things. First, a package on one of the shelves dropped and is jamming the door on the inside. May require removal of the top hinge so you can tilt the door top forward and look inside to see what happened. Next, you may have one of the door hinges that actually broke and is keeping the door from opening. You will need to look close at both hinges but I would guess the bottom hinge would cause this more that the top since the door weight is all on the bottom hinge. The only thing that holds the doors closed is a magnetic gasket on most side by side models under normal conditions.
Check for the right amount of water in tub. In this unit close to the lip of the tub after fill. If water fill is correct check movement of lower spray arm. Other possibilities delayed action of dispenser from defective wax motor. Most probable is wash motor. Start unit after fill and when was starts, open door and see if water is being pushed to the top rack and dripping from the top of tub. Motor is easy to install.
I will assume a few things as you do not indicate which unit you have.
You have a soap dish with a door that should open at the correct point in the cycle. That is probably not happening. You can tell for sure if the soap dish door is still closed at the end of the cycle.
If the door is still shut then something could be jamming it or it is faulty.
Take a look at the dish door and look for soap residue and dirt etc collected around the hinges and the clip holding the door shut. Clean it out.
Open and close the door by hand a few times to ensure it operates freely.
No Go ?
The timer tells the door when to open and close. If the door is faulty or the timer is not sending the signal then the soap will not dispense.
To test the soap disperser you would open the door and move the timer to the position where the soap should be dispensed. Then put a test light across the terminals on the dispenser to see if it is getting a signal. If there is power then the disperser is faulty. It now power the timer is faulty. You would replace the part accordingly.
It is hard to explain in detail how to do the test as I don't know the exact unit.
Short term solution until you get it properly fixed is to use the puck or dissolving package type cleaner. Just put it in the bottom of the machine at the start or open the door mid cycle (unit stops when you open the door) and toss it in. It will work for now.

Well you can please follow the below steps - 1. Remove any dishes in the dishwasher. Unhook the dishwasher's dish trays or racks from their tracks, and set aside. Empty the soap dispenser if it contains unused soap that failed to dispense. Use a wet rag to wipe down the interior of the dishwasher, as well as the inside of the dispenser.
2. Close the dispenser, and shut the dishwasher door. Turn the dishwasher on to a manual setting, then stop it and open the appliance. Check to see if the dispenser is open. If it is, continue to Step 2. If the dispenser is closed, skip to Step 4.
3. Switch dishwasher soap. Some dishwasher dispensers have difficulty with dry or liquid dishwashing soap, depending on the make and model of your dishwasher. Incompatibilities typically result in the dispenser sticking shut, which explains why the dispenser opens when empty. Switch to liquid soap if you are using dry powder soap, or vice versa.
4. Check the dishwasher soap dispenser's spring. The spring is located behind the dispenser top's hinge. Consult your dishwasher's original manufacturer's manual or user guide to find a replacement spring. Pop the old spring out with a screwdriver, and replace with a new spring. This should resolve any issues related to the dispenser failing to open. Please post comments if you need more help or information..........
The newer Whirlpool dishwashers have little slots in the top of the soap dispenser to allow water to seep in during the first water fill. This design allows the tablet to begin to dissolve during the first fill then be usefull when the soap door opens. In your case, I would check to see if the soap dish is opening at all. Perhaps one of the racks are not allowing clearance or the soap door itself is sticking closed.
Let the dishwasher fill, drain, and then fill again. Open the door of the dishwasher and see if the soap door is still closed and if so, there is your problem. Also, at this time, check the water temperature. It should be at least 120 degrees F for the soap to be effective.
When you have suds rolling out of a dishwasher, you can assume that either that one of the dishes was loaded with liquid soap or that the dishwasher soap dispenser was filled with liquid, manual wash soap or laundry detergent.
After the mess is cleaned up, the quickest way to clean the dishwasher is to start up a new cycle, wait for the hot water to fill the dishwasher and just as the DW starts to pump the water through the spray arms (wash cycle) open the door and poor in two cups of white vinegar.
Hope this helps!
The inlet filter is probably clogged. Try letting it fill up. Open the door to stop it right after it starts to wash Pour a gallon or two of hot water in and see it it works better Stop and do this everytime it goes to fill up. If the door opens , soap is used and dishes are clean ,clean the filter in the fill valve and possibly replace it. or the whole valve. (around $25) The soap door may be a seperate problem. I don't remember if Kenmore uses a spring or a small heat element to open the soap dispenser. Try cleaning it really well, shut the dispenser, open the door and turn the timer very , very slowly and watch to see if the dispenser opens. (WIth the door open the dishwasher will not run, but leave it plugged in.) It should open sometime during the cycle.
If you are you using a liquid soap or packets that will be the main problem. If your unit fills with water circulates the water and drains the water, and also heaters are working then you probally need to change to cascade powder soap. The film on the dishes is soap. The unit has so much build up in it that when it gets to the rinse cycle it is rinsing dishes with soapy water. You need to get 2 medium bowls fill both 2/3 up with white vinager, place one in upper rack and one in lower rack and run unit on longest cycle letting the vinager splash out during wash.do this with no soap and no dishes.Having soft water will allow you to use less soap.
It sounds like the soap dispenser flap is stuck or the latch is broken. Try to see if it can be manually opened to loosen it. How long do you wait before starting the dishwasher after the soap is placed in the dispenser? Check and see if the cover opens even a little during the wash cycle?
There could be a problem with the solenoid that opens the soap dispenser. I don't know of the part number for this. You'd have to call Bosch or check their website.
ok, either a spring, trigger prob, on the latch, or a electronic prob. ok so to see if the latch is ok (or not) look closely for soap residue and scum, that may be hindering the latch or spring under. use metho, and warm water to clean this part.
secondly go down to a white goods repair place and take your electrical component, button, lights its all one unit, simple unscrew it, i do think you will need a set of torque screws for that tho... anyhow ask the guy to get you a new or second hand one and install it. the timer will run, and the clip will release.
good luck!
