Possibly a faulty power supply?

Faulty Power cable?

Faulty Video Card?

Try replacing each of these in turn , remove all components and try to boot with the basics - 1 stick of memory, no drives, just video

Then add 1 drive

Then add another stick of memory

Keep going till you work out whats stopping it from starting.

What causes red led on starting?

Remove Power Cord then press and hold the power button for 30 seconds, then put the cord back in and try to start it.

When you press the Power Button are you hearing the fans run, the disk drive running, the cd drive click and the light on it comes on for a second or two?

Anything shows up on the LCD Screen?

If you press the power button and absolutely nothing is happening then you most likely have a bad power supply.

If you press the power button and you start hearing beep sounds or blinking lights in a continuous pattern (ex. 1 long followed by 2 short) then you have a motherboard issue. Those beep sounds and blinking lights tells the technician what is going on with the computer.

The computer wont start at all, the orange light keeps blinking but when i push the power button, nothing happen any help would be great, thanks

Hello !!!

Normally Dimension 4600 models can be resolved just by doing the power drain. All you need to do is unplug all the cables behind the tower. Press & hold the power button for 1 minute. Now turn on the PC, it will work. If still the same kindly check the back LED's and let me know the status.

I have a Dell Dimension 4600. I press the power button. The left light on the tower turns on amber, the right light comes on for 15 seconds or so then shuts off. The monitor will not come on, but will...

The most likely cause is a failing power supply. Unless you have a tester you will need to buy a replacement. Check the specs and order a suitable replacement. (www.newegg.com is my choice)

If any of this goes past your computer knowledge take your computer to an expert to examine first-hand.

The power LED light is orange instead of green and it won't turn on

Hi! for most dell machines if the power led is orange its an indication of a issue with the ram, try to reseat the ram first.if that doesnt work normally for dimension 4600, there are diagnostic lights that are located at the back panel of the machine, they are four bicolor lights(amber and green) You can determine the exact problem by checking these lights and you can interpret them by going to this website: http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/dim4600/en/4600i/sm/adtshoot.htm#1112886 hope this helps...

How do i open my Dell dimensions 4600 to install

Just lay it over on its right hand side, there a button on the top and the bottom, press these both at once and lift. It will just hinge up and give you plenty of access. When closing just make sure its lined up and it simply clicks back into place. Cheers from Scott

Problem with my dell dimension 4600

Does the hdd lite come on? cd lite come on? The blinking lite on the power is an indication the bios or power supply is having trouble. strip the unit of all devices except hd, kb and use the vga built in video. Remove the ram also. restart and see what happens.
