Well, when I apply 5V to the fans they spin just fine... I am not sure why they need to be replaced. Could it be something else?

    Thank you.

Toshiba Satellite A75-S209 (PSA70U-09700E) PC Notebook will not start.power lights come on for both the battery and DC. There is no fan or hard drive sound.power button does not light up. pushing the...

Hi,

Take out the battery and try booting the machine on AC power only. If the machine boots up then let the operating system load up, the shut it down. Remove the AC jack and put the battery back in again, then power it up.

If it boots all is well if it doesn't then there could be a problem with the battery.

If the laptop won't start on AC power, what you could do is remove the system memory, clean the brass pins and the slots and then re-seat them/it.

Then try to turn the machine on.

Good luck.

Toshiba boots up power light stays on and shuts down, bad m/b ?

I own a Laptop Toshiba Satellite A75-S2131.
This series have a problem with the cooling flow to the processor.
The processor overheats and the laptop shuts down.To solve this particular problem you must tear down the laptop and clean up the processor heatsink (you will find it totally plugged or partially dirty).
Find in the internet the step by step instructions (with photos) for dismantling this laptop. Do not forget to apply thermal paste between processor & heatsink.

I hope this solution helps.

Toshiba Satellite L15-S104, Model PSL10U-01X02F--A COMPLETE LEMON! 2-14-08 I purchased a Toshiba laptop in May 2005 at Best Buy in Montclair, California and all was good for a short time. Less than a year later I began to have so many problems. I took laptop to Best Buy Geek Squad and the hard drive had to be replaced! I had an extended warranty, so not any cost to me. I continued to have problems with the laptop and in took my laptop back to the Geek Squad in January 2008 and was told the laptop needed a motherboard at the cost of over $600! The warranty had ended. I have called Toshiba apx 4 times and finally given to a case manager and left on hold each time from 10 to 17 minutes! I have left messages and not anyone has returned my call. I have requested that my laptop be replaced. Christine Honea-Takata CHoneaTakata@msn.com Ever since I bought my laptop in December of 2004, I've had nothing but problems. My laptop overheats and shuts down repeatedly, the screen freezes, my sound only works 75% of the time, etc, etc. I have a stack of paperwork from the Geek Squad for numerous repairs - they've replaced everything at least once, some parts multiple times. They finally told me it was a lemon and that they were sending it in so that I could get a new lap top....6 weeks later I hadn't heard anything and called them - the usual waiting on the line, talking to 4 different people, them saying they'll call me back. A few days later I still hadn't heard back from them so I called again - same run around. They then told me that my lap top wasn't a lemon and that there was nothing they could do for me. I bought an extended warranty (3 years) and it's been in every few months - also meaning I'm without my blimmin' lap top for at least 2 weeks at a stretch. After my warranty ran out, I "gave up"...what more could I possibly do? The machine was a lemon from the start but Toshiba won't own up to anything. However, I know there was a class action law suit filed...haven't heard anything about it for the past year or so. I wouldn't touch a Toshiba with a ten foot pole. Terribly disappointed, angry and frustrated. I've lost huge amounts of data and had nothing but problems with customer service.
