When i power on the device, it comes on but goes off about 5 seconds later.

The device does power on, but when I push the switch to turn it on the display lights up and it stays on for about 5 seconds and then goes off. The on/standby button then just blinks. This unit is only 3 years on and I don't want to have to replace it if necessary. Does anyone know about this problem? If so, is it expensive to fix? Thanks for any help you can give. Ron

    Hi,

I'm having the same problem, currently trying to find a Phillips head screw driver to see what i can see.

I had my amp playing full volume at a party for hours and it started smoking and shut down.

Now it comes on for 5 seconds smells a bit with a slight hissing sound then shuts down.
I figure this isn't fatal otherwise it just wouldn't come on at all right?

Ill have a look in and try to see what component is smoking.

Any help would be greatly appreciated as Ive had quotes for about 80 quid for repair with a month turnaround so would like to avoid that is poss!!

    Thanks

I have the Denon AVR-588. We've had it for about 6 wks. We went away on vacation for a week and when we returned it does the same thing as yours - powers on for a few seconds then turns off w/ red light flashing. We've disconnected all speakers and still it doesn't work. We've plugged it into the outlet (instead of surge protector) and still nothing. No other components are damaged so I don't think it's lightning/surge damaged. Our a/v guy is coming out tomorrow get it and send it in.

Ron, did u have your repaired and if so what was the problem?

    Thanks!

Mine also went on protect mode after a faulty shorted connection..after making sure that all ics and transistors are okay,,ive changed the two huge capacitors on the power supply board ( 15000uf 63vdc x2) and my denon avr3300 flawlessly revived. i am now enjoying it again. this is a very nice receiver. good luck!!

Mitsubishi ws55813 picture turning off

The model indicated has a self check feature.

If turned on and green power light comes on and a few seconds later goes out:

On front of set press and hold both the menu and input(device) buttons at the same time for at least 5 seconds and release both.

Power light will blink a two digit error code like 2 blinks, 2 blinks, a pause and repeat it for a total of 5 times.

Let me know what error code you find.

If you unplugged the set--you will have to plug it back and attempt to turn it on--unplugging set clears the error buffer.

I turn on my set and the power light comes on for 2-3 seconds then the set turns off. What causes this to happen?

F power light comes on and a few seconds later goes off, do the self check this model has.

On front of set when this happens, press and hold both the menu and input (device) buttons at the same time for at least 5 seconds and then release both buttons.

Watch the power light closely, it should blink a two digit error code like; 2 blinks, 2 blinks, a pause and then repeat it several times.

Let me know what error code you find and I will tell you what it means.

My 65 inch projection TV turns off within a few seconds when I turn it on. Why? No pictures or sound.

If power light does come on and a few seconds later it goes off---do the self check that the WS65909 MITSUBISHI should have:

On the front of the set press and hold both the MENU and INPUT(OR DEVICE) BOTH FOR 5 SECONDS AND THEN RELEASE BOTH BUTTONS.

Power light should blink a two digit code--error code---for example: 2 blinks, a pause and 2 blinks.

Let me know what code you get----it will repeat it several times---and I will tell you what it means.

Screen says "Disconnected" and won't turn off. or load

Try these 3 resetting steps:
1. Push the "Power" switch downward into the "Hold" position.
2. Press and hold the "Menu" and "Record" buttons at the same time until the device resets.
3. Push the "Power" switch upward all the way to turn it back on.
OR
1. Grab a steady hold around the device.
2. Push the "Power" upward and hold it there until it powers off.
3. Power the device back on by releasing the power switch and then pushing it upward again.
OR
1. Unscrew the screws on the back of the device (or simply push the lid off if it is a model without screws.)
2. Take out the batteries from the slot and wait until the screen goes black.
3. Insert the batteries the same way they were mounted and attached the lid again.
4. Push the power switch upward to turn on the device.

Neither oven will come on

Hello kybattey
Welcome to Fixya.

You said, After coming on and preheating Saturday, the upper oven went off and the lower wouldn't work either. Control paned was blank, but interior lights were on and pushing control paned buttons resulted in beeps. Turned off breaker for 5 minutes to reset and upon retry, the fan came on for maybe 5 seconds and then went off. Nothing else changed. Any suggestions?

You say the ovens went on and then later cut off.
Does the clean mode work?
Try the clean mode and see if it goes on.
Assuming it will clean!

Since the Range will clean you have confirmation that the proper power is reaching the range. It also verifies that the elements are in working condition. You will need to check the high temperature limit switch and the door latch mechanism. If either of these is defective, the bake and broil function will not operate properly
Let me know how it goes.
Waiting your response.

When i power on the device, it comes on but goes off about 5 seconds later.

Hi...

1st thing to check is for GOOD speaker connections at both ends
and not mixing A and B speaker wiring.

A Denon is usually a good brand. Might be worth servicing if need be.
