If you want to change the password to access the router you can open your browser and put in the address 192.168.1.1 (unless you changed it) and press enter. You should be prompted for a user name and password. Leave the user name section blank and put in the password for the router. Once you have logged into the router successfully, you will see the Administration tab. Click on it and you will be able to change the router password. Save the changed and close the browser window when you are finished.
If you need to change the Wireless Internet password, you can click on the Wireless tab, go to Wireless security and change the passphrase there too.
I hope this helped. Thanks for using FixYa.com!!

What does it mean to "console into the router."

Log in to the router. Open a browser and type in your Ip address to the router and the login password. (They should be on the label on bottom of router. )(NOT THE WIFI PASSWORD) once inside you can change the WiFi password.

After i gave the wireless internet a password on my laptop, now the wireless for my xbox etc has stopped working. The wireless light is also off. Any ideas?

I assume when you gave the wifi a password you changed it from an open connection to a secured connection. You will most likely need to configure the XBOX internet connection again but now you will need to input the same password as you used on your laptop.

Hello where can i know my user name for DSL-2640T ? I NEED IT !! PLEASE CAN U HELP ME

Hi

There is 2 Usernames when it comes to Routers.

1st is the USERNAME and Password you use to get into the Router configurations which is the following.
Username: admin
Password: admin
The above username and password is the Factory setting and only the password can be changed by an user. SO if it was not changed the password will still be admin or you can reset the modem to reset the password back to admin.

2nd is the Username and Passsword you get from your Internet Service Provider which usually is the email address and whatever password you gave them to set your internet up

I forgot the password for my broadband wireless

If its the password that your ISP gave you, you need to phone them to get it reset
If its the password for the router settings, you may beed to reset the router, or go to the router page settings and change the password in there

My linksys wrt54g can not hook up to the internet via my at&t modem do i need to change any settings whithin mu computer

Hi.

Are you Using a username and password for your AT&T internet connection? if yes, then try this

press and hold down the reset button on the back of the router until the power light starts blinking. power down the router for 1min.
wire your computer to the #1 port ( modem is not connected to the router )
open internet browser, type 192.168.1.1 on the address bar. type "admin" on the password field.
then you will be able to see the routers' configuration page.
under Internet Connection Type, set it to PPPoE and type your Username and Password that AT&T gave you. scroll down, look for "LAN ip ( usually is in 4 boxes that has 192.168.1.1 ) ". changed the number to 192.168.5.1. then save the settings

just connect your modem to the router, you should be good by then.

if you're not using a UN & PW from AT&T, just changing the ip to 192.168.5.1 will work.

please rate me.. :-)

Have lost the the security code they gave us when the router was changed. how do we find it or change it. the router is netgear DG834G it won`t let us log on any more lap top without the code

Before resetting the router, please try the user name 'admin' with the password 'password' or '1234'. These are the default user name and passwords for Netgear routers. If neither of these work, there is a small black button on the back of the router with 'Reset' written by it. Press this down and hold it for approximately 40 seconds, or until you see the lights blink on the front. Now you can access the router via your web browser using the default settings. All settings will need to be reinserted into the router. I will post a How-To on how to do that today.

Good Luck,

Forgot password how do i change it or find it out?

When you've forgotten your router password you need to reset it. You can see a small reset whole, use a pin to reset it. Once you've already reset the router you can log on now. Use the (admin) for username and password.

Need to change password as all neighbors are using (I gave it out

You need to determine your gateway IP address. Click on your network status to determine that. It will most likely be 192.168.1.1. You can open a web browser and go to http://192.168.1.1 to get to your router login page. Try admin for your username and leave the password blank.

That should bring you the interface where you can change the wireless security settings to "enabled" and set your password. Let me know if this works for you!

Your ex may have set a different password for the router, and you may have to do a factory "reset" on the router.

Westell Versalink 327w -- can't change channel

I followed advice that I read on online about how I needed to get into the router settings, but they failed to explain that the default log in and password were "admin" and "password." I finally found it on another troubleshooting site. I got in, but it would not except any changes. I finally gave up.

A couple of ways later, I tried again and when I accessed the router settings it prompted me to change the default log in and password. After that, I was able to make any changes I wanted. Viola' !!!

Having difficulty setting up to use wireless with router in office.

Have you tried connecting to the router using a lan cable?

Probably best to reset the router to the factory settings by puching the reset button located somewhere on it.

Then try connecting using the default wep/psk key printer on the router.

What is the make and model number of the router?
