I Have A Compaq Evo N600c Laptop And It Will Not Power On. I Don't Get Any Blinking Lights Or Anything. Do You Think It Is Because I Am Trying To Use A 19 Volt Charger Instead Of 18.5 Volts?

Yeah it could be. Always use the correct adapter mentioned for your laptop. Otherwise it could harm the inner wirings and the motherboard. Always go for the right adapter. If it was any motherboard problem, atleast it would've blinked. So this might be the problem of your adapter or may be of the power button.

Compaq Evo N600c Laptop over 5 years old but has been working fine. About 2 months ago the screen went dark (bad lamp?) so been using an external monitor. Turned it on this morning and it started to boot...

Do you see any lights on the laptop that are on? If you see any lights and only a black screen, then more than likely your video chip on the motherboard has gone out. Some local shops might be able to replace the motherboard it might be cheaper than buying a new laptop. Good luck
