Check to see if it tripped the panel breaker, if so clean out the dishwasher completely before turning it back on. The pump may be jammed if debris got past the filter screens, this will cause a motor trip
Sounds like a dicky or jammed water level sensor. Get a qualified and licensed technician to check it out. The sensor and labour to replace it should only be around AU$50 or AU$60 dollars (excluding callout or pickup / delivery fees).
I just had this problem and it was bad. No matter what I did, the DW would not run. Finally, I found and checked the float switch. Actually, I didn't even know what a float switch looks like. Fortunately, I found a YouTube video that showed what a float switch looks like. My float switch was actually fine. However, a small piece of plastic had gotten jammed under it. I removed the piece of plastic and now everything works. Really easy to resolve in my case.
The problem you describe points me towards the conclusion that the dishwasher is not filled with water. Another scenario is the motor is seized and not circulating the water. I do not think that the soap dispenser is broken, as without soap these dishwashers do a fairly good job of cleaning. There should be a small thing inside the dishwasher called a "float", which is a sensor that stops the dishwasher from filling if it thinks it is full. Try wiggling that and see if soap has jammed up the float in the "full" position. It should be in the front left or right corner. If the dishwasher hums and sounds different then you may have something jammed in the motor.Start a cycle and look in the dishwasher after the motor starts, is there enough water? (1-3 inches deep).
Hi Thanks
for using FixYa. To start with check the water inlet valve which is located
behind the lower access panel on the left or right side of the Dishwasher. If
the water inlet valve is bad you have to replace it, also check the main water
line for clogs/obstructions. If still the issue is not resolved then it’s a bad
float switch and needs to be replaced. Please do rate the solution if the
issue is resolved or post a comment for further assistance. Thanks Rylee
Thanks for using FixYa. If the clean light flashes, pauses, and then repeats. When the dishwasher doesn't sense a water temperature increase, it stops working and locks the functions (clean light flashes, all buttons are non responsive). It does this as a safety in case the element is broken and feeding electrical current into the water.
To resolve this you will have to reset the console. Do this by closing the door and press these buttons in sequence... -high temp wash -heated dry -high temp wash -heated dry
Please do rate the solution if the issue is resolved or post a comment for further assistance.
Hi Thanks
for using FixYa. To start with you can open the lower front panel of the
dishwasher and check the hoses as water under the dishwasher may be originating
from a leaky hose or loose hose connection. Other things that should be checked
are door gasket, drain hoses and/or main tub seal. Also check the pump seal and
if the dishwasher is too old then its really time for a new one. Please
do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or post a comment for further
assistance. Thanks Rylee
As per the Service Manual, it Refers to Washing Motor Jammed.
Reasons :-
1. Motor Winding Short Circuited 2. Motor Winding Open Circuit 3. Motor Jammed by Foreign Body 4. Electrical Connections Detached 5. Tachometer Open or Short Circuited
Now,
You could try to Turn OFF the Power. Wait for few minutes, say 30 Minutes and then Try to Turn ON the Dishwasher. If Problem Still Persists, more often it is either Motor jammed or Faulty.
Check to see if you have any obstructions (broken glass, etc.P)) that may have worked their way into the drain sump area in the bottom of the dishwasher. It is possible that something has jammed the pump motor, hence the humming sound.
Most dishwasher use one pump/motor to both wash and pump out the diswasher, so if it gets jammed, it won't do much except hum. You might have to remove the dishwasher from under the counter to remove the pump unit to get at the obstruction, but be sure to disconnect the power, water inlet and discharge lines first. You'll also need plenty of towels and a sponge to get as much water as possble out of the dishwasher first. Have a bucket handy!
Normally broken glass or small stuff can get into the pump mechanism and lodge between the impeller and the pump housing, causing the motor to jam and hum, as it cannot spin freely. With a few basic hand tools (nut drivers and screwdriver) you should be able to get at the problem and resolve it fairly easily.
Worse case is that the motor has failed (has gone bad) and will need to be replaced, but it is worth first checking for a n obstruction to determine if that's the problem before having to buy an expensive motor.
sounds like it was hooked up to a coldwater line instead of a hot and your heating element in the dishwasher went bad from overload or your pc board went bad but i would check to see if it is hooked up to hot water line first..
