Problems with convergance and possible blown resistors

Hello I am having problems with the white green and pink or red not lining up properly. I opened the back and found a resistor rk58 that measures .5214 Mega Ohms. The resistor is discolored so I can not tell the rating of it. I would also need to know the ratings of the other associated resistors. Any help would be great.

There isn't any load on it when it is measured unless there is some type of capacitance somewhere. Or am I wrong in that assumption.

Your convegence amp ic 's are faulty, that resistor is possibly opened under load from the faulty ic's.

Hi

>>Does the chip STK392-120, looks burned.
if yes, replace it.That will fix the problem.

>>There are two IC's, a 392-150 will be the best replacement, and if there are any large burned resistors on that board (should be pretty obvious), then they need to be replaced, too. If there are , let me know the board designator number (it will be "RK-XXX")

Thanks

Double picture and colors are neon green and pink

Your TV most likely has fone of two possible problems.

Problem #1 - Failure in the convergence circuits. ( common problem )

Here are some of the most common symptoms and example photos of a convergence problem

  • Screen looks 3D
  • Colors don't line up
  • One or more colors can't be adjusted when using the convergence menu.
  • Screen is bowed or warped.
Here are some photos of convergence problems.

Here is a quick test....

Using your original remote go-to the tv settings then goto the convergence section.

Try to adjust the red and then the blue convergence.

You should be able to move them up, down, left, and right.

If you can't move them in all directions your convergence chips are bad and should be replaced. This is a common problem.

0667c5f.pngSOLUTION

You will need to replace the convergence chips and possibly some convergence resistors and pico fuses. Its a fairly easy DIY job or you can call in a pro. If you want to do the repair yourself check the site www.TvRepairKits.com. Their kits include a photo instruction guide, original OEM Sanyo STK chips, convergence resistors, pico fuses, thermal paste, email/phone support, etc.

Problem #2 CRT Fluid is Cloudy

Projection TV tubes have a liquid coolant that is used to keep them from overheating. After many years the coolant in the blue and green tubes will become cloudy and cause the screen to look dull, red/orange, etc. You may even see halos around images.

Picture of a set that needs the fluid changed. Notice how dull the colors are and how white the screen looks. The screen may also look red, orange, dull, etc.

TV set after fluid change. Notice how bright the colors are now. Everthing looks crisp and sharp again.

What you will need to do is replace the coolant and clean the crt. You can get a repair kit from www.TvRepairKits.com that includes replacement coolant, photos. instructions, etc.

Convergence on top of screen and 3D bended lines (yellow & pink lines).

Hi,
It is failure of convergence out ICs causing 3-D type picture on screen, you need to replace two big ICs in convergence section on main board.
Click Part Store to see an image of IC as well as price info.

If you need service manual of 43FWX20B, let me know to provide you a copy.
Thanks.

Pink and green with double writing

Are you able to do a multipoint convergence adjustment in the convergence menu? Do the red and blue adjustments move in all four directions/ Let me know and I will try to assist you.If the anser is no to either problem you will need new convergence ICs and convergence resistors.

Arched pink lines across screen. Now green and pink double stacked wording.

Projection sets have two very common problems.

The first common problem is convergence

These sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the picture to look normal. This is called convergence.

When its out of alignment the video will look 3-D, wavy, distorted, etc. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired. Convergence problems are very common on all Projection TV sets including Sony, Samsung,JVC,Philip Magnavox,Panasonic,Akai,Pioneer, Hitachi,Mitsubishi,Zenith and others.
You can get more information and a DIY convergenece repair kit with instructions from the link below.

Here are some of the most common problems with these sets...

*Screen Looks 3-D
*Colors wont align
*Screen may look distorted or warped
*No Audio/Video - TV Shuts down - May also make a constant chirping sound

Problem #2 - Another common problem is dull or washed out video.

Your set may have one or more of the following symptoms....

*Dull looking picture
*White looking picture
*Halos around objects
*Red/Orange looking picture

Samsung HCN4226 Convergence.

Did you remove one side of the resistors from circuit to check them? If you leave them in circuit a blown resistor will test good as it will read the resistance from the surrounding resistors. Usually its the 3.9 ohm resistors identified bu the bands orange, white ,gold and red. and also the 150 ohm identified by the bands brown, green, brown and gold

Convergence

Did you remove 1 leg of each resistor out of circuit when you checked the resistors? sounds like thier is still one resistor open or maybe one of the new IC pins need abit more solder.
