How to change wifi password on Buffallo AirStation WBR2-G54 router

I'm not 100% sure, but I think the password is actually programmed into the bios of the router, so you can't change it...could be wrong. If someone is using your router, they must be aware of your password, remove the password sticker off your router and keep it in a safe place

How To Secure your wireless connection

If I wanted to check if someone using my wireless router to access the internet without my permission, I'd be right in thinking that if I opened my Network Places dialog box and select View Computers workgroup, I am unable to see anything interfere with users? Otherwise, what is the best way to monitor my wireless security? Uninvited Guests will usually be displayed in My Network Places, if the attacker uses the same group name as you. If your router is configured to act as a DHCP server, most of which are computer name if unauthorized appear.

1
Log on to the router and go to the area where you can change the network settings. Take a look at your router assigns IP addresses via DHCP, which is the default. Explore the list of attached devices, if you do not recognize any of them may be an intruder.

2
The best way to prevent anyone from connecting to the router without authorization is to use WEP or preferably WPA. Configure your router to use WPA-Personal and WPA2 if possible. Select and enter your password and will only be given to those who need to communicate.

3
If your router does not support WPA, or you do not use encryption, you can use MAC authentication instead. You must know the MAC address of your Wi-Fi card and enter it into your router. You can use this with the default security for greater protection.

You cannot get the password/encryption without asking them for permission to use their wireless connection.
You can use free WiFi at places like Macdonalds, Star Bucks etc.

I cant set up my wireless router

1. Plug it in2. plug it into your modem 3.plug the ethernet wire into your pc and the router. 4. depending on the router if its linksys, open your browser and go to 192.168.1.1 username is admin and password is admin. if the router is D-Link go to 192.168.0.1 and the username is admin and there shouldnt be a password. 5. put an encryption by going into the security setting of your router. 6. put a password to your router so nobody can access it without your permission. 7. go on all your computers and connect them to the network. while connecting it will prompt you to insert the password. insert the key that the router generated for you in the security settings. 8. you are now done. you should have no problem with the internet connection.

How do I go back and set up a security password so the neighbors can't use my wireless service? Router has been set up for years.

Go to your IP Adress (printed below your router, usually 192.168.0.1) enter the user credentials (commonly admin/password) and go to router security. If this is to complicated or you don't remember credentials, reset the router or tell the neighbors that you will sue them

Router and internet down

Did they have physical access or was it just wifi access.
If they had physical access it's an easy matter to reset the router back to factory settings.
Use your D-Link manual to rest it back as it was with your ISP settings.

Need to find wireless security key in order to log on internet. Notebook is finding wireless network. However, I need a security code to be able to log on. Is there a way to find the surity code?

you cant find it without being connected to it.
is there another computer on the network that is working if so just get into the router and look under wireless or security and it will tell you the key.

to access the router on a wokring pc just goto start ....run......type "cmd" in the run text box and hit run it should bring up a command window that looks something like C:\documents and settings

type ipconfig and press enter

it should give you some info the default gateway is the router so if it says defualt gateway.......:192.168.1.1 then 192.168.1.1 is router

open internet explorer or other web browser and type http://192.168.1.1 or whatever the gateway ip is and hit enter and that should let you into router.

most default passwords on routers are admin/admin or admin with a blank pass or admin/password
