Trying to update firmward on Delphi SKYFi3.

My Delphi SkyFi3 locks up on "Detecting SD Card". I am running R1.18 and was told by Delphi that I need to update my firmware at http://fwupdt.xmradio.com/. I followed instructions but when I click on XM Firmware Update Client (R2.26) and select "run" and then "run" again, the screen stays on "searching for compatible devices" and does not allow me to select "Start". Got any advice?

When it gets stuck scanning. Press (volume up) and the (mode) button both down for a few seconds. when you release the two buttons this will turn it off and back on in few seconds.

I have the same problem and the person I just spoke to said there is definitely a problem with the radio itself and told me to return it to the store! I told her I bought it five months ago and asked if that would be a problem and she said it would not. This should be interesting...

Pop the SD card out while it is in "Detecting SD Card" then pop it back in. Might have to do this a couple of times. Mine always finishes scan, then loads music ready to play.

Problem with the Delphi SKYFi3 XM Radio Receiver UNIT LOCKED UP WILL NOT COME ON OR GO OFF

Common problem with SkyFi3 units. You have to press the Volume UP button and hold it while you press the POWER button; this will 'reboot' your radio, then you can try it again to get it to go off.
You will need to update your firmware on the radio using the baby USB cable and the unit plugged into your computer WITH the battery recharged FIRST. Also, go to the www. xmradio dot com website and download the SkyFi3 FIRMWARE update. Then you need to download the "firmware update" into your SkyFi3. If this doesn't fix your lockup problem, you need to call DELPHI customer support, and they can tell you one more 'master reset' method. After the firmware update, it might take 2 or 3 'restarts'. Again, press and hold the Volume UP and PWR at the same time to reset a 'locked-up' SkyFi3. Regards, John

Powers up but locks up on "detectin sd card" screen

A very common problem on the SkyFi3! Press the volume UP and the Power button at the same time and it will finally go off. Go to the Delphi/XM website and upload/download the latest FIRMWARE and upgrade it. Then, call the 800 phone number for Delphi and they will tell you a secret master reset you have to do once or twice, and it will cut down the number of lockups during checking media by quite a bit. Also, do not use a Micro SD card larger than 2MB as well. Good luck, and let me know how it goes for you.

Skyfi3 stuck in Detecting SD Card mode - tried popping SD card in and out a few times - that didn't work. Tried pressing the Mode button and the volume plus and nothing. Tried to XM Firmware Update and...

8GB card is a SDHC card, and these units were designed to read SD cards. At a glance, you would think it shouldn't make a difference, but data is stored differently on SDHC because of expanded capacity than SD cards. I, too, learned the hard way; purchased storage card before researching "processing" capabilities of the Skyfi3 units.
Your card should work fine in a Cell phone or other devices specifically designed for SDHC cards. Hope you get some use out of it.

Locked on Detecting SD Card

SD cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card. If the switch is already in the proper position, slide it fully the other way and then back again.

My unit starts up and just says at top "Checking Media" can not use any buttons, just frozen!

Take the sd card out, reboot by holding volume up and menu at the same time for 5 secs, wait for it to fully boot into the music, then put the sd card back in.

My SkyFi R 1.18 does the same thing but the solution here doesn't

If it freezes, you have to push the volume UP button and Power button to 'reset' the unit.
go to the XM website and get the latest FIRMWARE update for the SkyFi3 and download that. Also, you CANNOT use an SD card larger than 2GB or you'll have problems too. So first, upload the new firmware (using the AC adapter plugged directly into the bottom of the radio) and the cable that they gave you to hook up to your computer and do the firmware update. Delphi customer service can walk you through this too. Good luck, you'll get it pretty soon.
