I have a GSW-22 switch which indicate 6A 120VAC/3A 240VAC. What does this mean? Is it a low voltage switch I can replace with a new one without turning off electrical breaker? 6A 120V sure does not indicate low voltage to me.
Thanks for any info.
It will handle a load of 6 amps when connected to 120 volts ac, or if connected to 240 volts ac, will only handle 3 amps load. Regardless of any rating on the switch, ALWAYS !!, SHUT POWER OF TO ANYTHING ELECTRICAL BEFORE WORKING ON IT.!! No hollering at you, just want it emphasized to be sure you stay safe, and alive. Look at what your powering with this switch for an amp rating on it. If amp rating is higher than switch is rated at, don't use it, in case of fire.
