Heavy black stripe on back side of every printed page

The printer is leaving a wide (1cm) black stripe of ink on the back side of the paper with every page that is printed. This started after replacing the PGBK5 ink cartrige. It ruins the printed page because the paper is saturated with black ink and it uses huge amounts of ink with each page.
Replacing the cartirge and even replacing the print head did not help.

We did align the cartriges 3 times. The black strip on the back side got fainter and fainter with each pass. But when we printed from the computer the black strip returned as before. Again it is on the back side of the page not on the side that is being printed. It is totally black about 1cm wide and aligned exactly where the PG5K printer parks when cover is open. It uses so much ink that the paper is actually wet with ink.
We also cleaned the base plate and the nozzles from the printer maintenance menu. It seems to work ok when we receive a fax but whenever we print from the computer it returns as before. It is Canon all in one MP830

This is probably due to miss alignment, there is an option of test page which will be scanned to allign the cartridge, if ur's a all in one printer. This test page is printed at the first time and scanned instantly for first time operation.

Thankyou

Printing blank pages

could have number of causes...too hard to diagnose from your brief description.
Try removing both cartridges and stamping each printhead (copper strip on underside of cart) on some folded tissue paper. Black cart should leave a solid stripe of black ink about 10mm long and 2-3 mm wide on the tissue. Do same with colour cartridge, which should leave 3 colour stripes side by side.
If you end up with very little or no ink on the tissue, you are either out of ink, or the cartridge(s) have dried up. If all looks ok, put cartridges back in and try printing a "nozzle check".
If you still get no print, it is most likely a hardware problem and there's not a lot you can do. It could also be a faulty cartridge, but usually it would be one or the other (not both).

If you are refilling the cartridges and the problem developed after filling, they could also be leaking.
If that's the case, just remove some ink and should work ok again.

hope this helps

Re: Canon Pima MP500 Printer.Despite running cleaning settings for print head and rollers ectc,I am still getting a 1cm wide line of black ink through the length of the reverse side of printed pages....

On back side of printed paper?

It means that you have an ink in paper path, i would ques on registration roller (long black roller which you can see when you open the printer cover).

Try to print 20-30 white sheets or similar to get rid of stripes

When printing, a black stripe is printed on the back side of the printed pages (about 1/4'' wide, running from top to bottom). The ink strip bleeds through to obscure printed side. Any suggestions?

You need to have the exit rollers cleaned at a shop, and a mylar strip added to keep that from happening again. It's the ink from the cleaning station backing up thru the exit rollers.

It's the Black Stripe thing When you begin a printing job a 1/2" wide streak of black ink is on the back side of each pieceof paper Canon iP5200R

You need a new ink absorber kit with a guard sheet to stop ink from coming up from the bottom and getting on the exit rollers. It's a major job to remove the print engine and a messy one. Best done in repair shop..

Printer prints a black streak down the reverse side

You have a build up of ink inside the printer. I had a Canon that did this. I had to take the ink & print head out, and tear a paper towel strip 1 " wide and 13" long or however long the paper towel is. I folded it in half down the length so it was 1/2x13. Then used a plastic strip to shove it under the part the print head sits in. Once I got the towel to the other side, I grabbed it with my hand. I removed the plastic strip used to shove the paper towel under. So now the paper towel sticks out both sides underneath the print head cradle. I gently pull the paper towel back and forth so the paper towel can clean off the ink build up. Hope this helps.

Canon Pixma MP 800 printing Issue (heavy black line on opposite side of print page

I have exactly the same problem with a Canon Pixma MP800, I have cleaned the rollers, changed the ink cartridges and reset the printer. It will print a few pages cleanly then dump black ink on the roller which leaves a heavy black line on the back of the page. It fades away after printing about 10 pages and then a few pages later appears again. The printer is two years old and it looks as if I must buy another. Should I buy another Canon?
