Question about Samsung LN-S4692D 46 in. LCD HDTV

1 Answer

Hello, I have a Samsung LN-S4692D. The tv turns on, the back lights work, the audio works. The picture does not work. The screen is black and when I change channels or press menu it flashes however, the screen stays blank. Based on personal troubleshooting I figured it was the GPU/TCON/LCD controller card. I then researched on here and found hundreds of people suggesting is was infact the TCON. I purchased a board and threw it in but with no luck, the tv is still showing the same problems. Now I am going crazy wondering if the replacement board that I bought was bad too, or if it is something else. I did buy the board on ebay and it was used but supposedly tested. Could the LCD panel be bad, and how could you tell? Should I try to buy yet another TCON? Also, I would appreciate if anyone could tell me how to test the TCON board? Do I use an ohmmeter or something? TCON Board: BN81-01286A Thanks in advance!

the menu doesnt flash, the screen does when i press menu

I should say just to be clear, the screen is always black. When I say flashes I mean the screen flickers but it stays black. When I press menu and channel and stuff I mean the menu doesn't pop up. The screen just stays black and the light flickers as if it received the signal from the remote control.

You cannot test the T-Con bd with a meter. However if you have the luxury of having another same model tv, you can install the bought T-Con bd and see if it is good or bad. Since you said the Menu and channel flashses, then I would replace the Main board.

    Your very welcome.

    First try a new T-Con.
If that does'nt work replace the Main bd.
If that fails then you have a bad Panel.

46" LCD Samsung TV Model# LN-S4692D I have no picture

The back light inverter board may have gone out or it is not getting the 24vdc from the power supply module. Start checking for voltage feeding the inverter board.

Hi! I was watching my TV - Samsung LN-S4092D - and the picture went to black with a few very light horizontal lines for about 30secs. After that it went to complete black. I thought it might just be that...

Hi Bob. The first Board to cause this problen is the Main bd. The next bd to cause this is the T-Con bd which is mounted on the Panel. Since you saw horizontal lines and that you have text on the screen and are missing audio from the tv means that the Main bd has gone bad. Have a trained Samsung tech service your tv. Call 1-8020-Samsung as they can direct you to a Qualified tech in your area.

Rainbow color effect appears when Samsung LCD plays Wii or DVD

Hello, I have a question which video inputs are you using for your DVD and Wii connections? The reason I ask is because this sounds like video distortion cuased by noise. If possible can you send a picture of the screen when it has this problem and send which video ports are being used? If it is noise in the video you may have a saw filter problem, or a decoupling issue. In any event I'll know more once you send those pictures and which inputs you are using for your DVD and Wii. LCD TV

I had a problem with a Samsung 46 inch LCD and it had audio and dim light but no picture and found out that the logic board toward the top (inside tv) was bad and was no longer available and the only way to fix it was to get the entire display panel (the logic board came with it) It was not costwise to repair. Hope this helps.
