Maytag Refrigerator MSD2737GR - the icemaker quit working and the thermostat for the entire refrigerator quit working properly. Now, with the thermostats turned all the way up for both the freezer and refrigerator, there are still cold areas. The top of both sides is warmer and the temperature gets colder as you go down to lower levels. Does the icemaker situation have any thing to do with the change of temperature? (Water can still be dispensed).

Most have a reservoir behind the crisper in the fridge where the water sits between uses and unless there is lots of use usually does not run out of cold.

sounds like you need to replace the adaptive defrost assembly. and yes, it will effect the performance of the fridge. the part number is 12002104 if the first 2 numbers of your serial # is 22; or 61003990 if the 1st 2 numbers of your serial # is 10; or 61005988 if the 1st 2 numbers of your serial # is 17. here is a breakdown showing the location it is # 13 in the picture. hope this helps.250

Maytag ice maker quit making ice

www.youtube.com/watch?v=oIHLyOn3Ht0

Check youtube.com for how to videos like the one above. Basically, if your icemaker is not refilling with water, your water valve may be faulty. Pretty much it's either that or a blocked/clogged filter, or the icemaker itself. There are plenty of websites to get replacement parts at a reasonable price. Neither the icemaker or water valve are that difficult to replace.

Side by side refrigerator not defrosting

you should probably call a technician. the possibilities are many:
Defrost time is stuck, defrost heater is out, defrost thermostat is bad. defrost timer is part of the icemaker and therfore, icemaker is bad etc. it is rather difficult to diagnose without knowledge or proper tools

Maytag mfd2560hes how to replace defrost thermostat

The service manual 16025629 is here: (7.46 mb)
http://appliancedigest.com/index.php?/files/file/498-16025629-maytag-amana-bottom-mount-refrigerator-service-manual

You will have to register to download the manual.

Freezer Back Panel

NOTE: Freezer compartment should now be empty and

walls should be clear of anything that will

obstruct removal of back panel.

1. Loosen screws that mount icemaker to freezer

compartment walls.

2. Pull icemaker gently away from wall of compartment.

As you do so, work fill cup free of fill tube. Unplug

icemaker electrical connector and remove icemaker

from unit.

3. (Pull out Drawer only) Loosen and remove screws

that hold 2 basket glides in place at left and right

sides of compartment.

4. If unit has no icemaker pry with flatblade icemaker

connection cover. Remove cover.

5. Remove hex head screws that hold back panel and

remove panel.

6. Squeeze tabs on ice maker plug to release it from
back panel

Defrost Terminator (Thermostat)

1. Terminator is fastened to evaporator tubing with a

spring clip.

2. Snap terminator off tubing and cut wires to terminator.
3. Remove terminator from unit.

That is word for word.

See parts list diagram here:
http://www.appliancepartspros.com/partsearch/model.aspx?model_id=5170924&diagram_id=28480593#d28480593

This may help with screws but the defrost thermostat is item 32 and not shown on the diagram. Once you hav ethe access panel off loof fok the thermostat. It will have 2 wires and tough metal clip on it.

The icemaker on my Maytag Refrigerator MFD2560HES bottom freezer with French Doors has not made any ice for about two weeks. Before this, it would go for a few days and not make ice and just when I was...

Mine (same model) does the same thing. The only way I get it to work is to open the freezer, and move the metal ice lever arm up and back down again. Then it starts. But after a day, the arm stops moving and it breaks. I can't stand it anymore.

Before moving into my new house with the mfd2560hes, I had to replace an ice maker in my whirlpool refrigerator. So, I guess I'll be googling this maytag model and buying an icemaker motor replacement kit.

if I'm successfull, I'll post it here.

check to make sure that your fill tube is not blocked with frozen water.
if there is no restriction then you have a faulty ice maker.

Icemaker don't work

Most icemakers have their own brains so to speak all they need is power, low temp, and water to work.So check the water supply to the unit and use a test cord to check the water valve. It could be not cold enough in the freezer ,check temp and shrouds etc.
once you've ruled out outside influences you've got to dismantle the unit and check microswitches and stats all the while on the lookout for something thats broken lol

Ice maker

By manually moving the ejector blades you have now broken the ice maker module. (The brain and the motor of the icemaker). Kitchenaid had a batch of thermostats that arent working properly in these Indoor ice makers. I reccommend getting an entire new IDIM icemaker. You will have the improved module whith stronger gears (however you still cannot manually move them) and the improved thermostat.
