How do I put a belt on the carpet shampoing attachment on Kirby Heritage 11

This will require 2 phillips screwdrivers. Insert the screwdrivers into the screw heads and unscrew one side while holding the other so it will not turn. When the screw is out, tip the brush up and slide a new belt on.

My Sentria always runs in the drive mode and it is so fast it seems out of control. If I push the neutral pedal it stays in drive. I can push it the regular way when it is turned off, whether the pedal is...

I sold vacuums for almost 20 yrs and the Kirby gets lots of complaints. The transmission that it has in it breaks as your has and they are costly. The best thing to do would be to take the maching to the local vacuum store(eg. sewing and vacuum are often in the same store).Bring it to a used vac store and they all repair kirby and thay can give you the best advice. I dont recommend going to kirby as thay will spend four hours at your house trying to sell you a newer model and they have not changed enough to get another one in hopes it will be betrter. Good luck

I need to replace the power cord. what tools do i need

The Kirby vacs have a 50year warranty. You sould contact the person you baught it from and have them replace it or if they gave you one (no labor is coverd on the warranty) then you will definately need a Philips screw driver and a tub to hold all the parts in while you work on it.

I cant figure out how to **** up water with my kirby dimond

Vacuuming a wet carpet with your Kirby or any other vacuum not designed for wet pickup could do serious damage to your machine and there is a real danger of electrical shock to the operator.
Your Kirby Diamond and every other Kirby for that matter is NOT designed to pick up water!! Even with the shampoo system attached it will NOT pick up water or the shampoo foam. Your Kirby spreads the shampoo foam around on the carpet to clean it. You then only vacuum a shampooed carpet after it has completely dried.

I bought a Kirby obout 2 months ago, the salsman said they have a office in Bel Air MD. They where to ship me Bags and a gallon of shampo. I have not receivedit. He told me it would be shiped from the main...

You should get it from the office which originally sold you a Kirby. You should have Ph# on the paperwork.
However, if you will be successful doing that, you can always order them on our website:

My button for the neutral and drive won't work. a metal piece broke off and no i can't switch the transmission

Find an authorized Kirby Dealer in your area and have the part professionally installed. Very complex. Many parts and screws. If no Kirby store, find a Vac store you trust. Or go here http://reviews.ebay.com/REPLACING-OR-REPAIRING-KIRBY-VACUUM-NEUTRAL-DRIVE-PEDAL_W0QQugidZ10000000011180003

Up and down the stair to shampo it , which methol is best and what attachments to use?

HERE is the instruction on using Kirby to shampoo upholstery and stairs.

But I'd say go to automotive store, buy a spray can for car upholstery for $3-$6 and way less hassle and confusion...

Converting to shampoer

Starting with the shampooer brushroll, slip the belt over the brushroll, and install the brushroll into the bottom of tray.Install the brushroll housing over the brushroll, and looking thru the opening in the back of housing, turn the belt lifter counterclockwise untill the hook inside picks up the belt.Raise the height adjuster on the machine to it's highest settind.Install the entire assembly to the front of machine, and lock it down.Turn the belt lifter knob clockwise until the belt drops onto shaft. The elbow end of hose snaps into center of tray. There is a small plastic screen(size of a quarter)that fits onto the opening at tank.Without this screen, you wont get foam, only wet solution. There is a foam pad that must be installed at the air inlet opening at tank.Without this, dirt will enter tank, clogging it.Install tank onto blower side of machine.Lower height adjuster all the way down. You should now be ready to go.

Shampo system

here is a site that has detailed instructions for using your kirby shampooer.

the screen that goes in the hose is different from the filter (round flat sponge) that goes between the exhaust side of the kirby and the shampooer tank. The screen is what makes the suds...if its not seated properly or missing (or damaged) then it won't make suds.

http://www.greatvacs.com/shampoo.shtml

this site shows a picture of the piece I'm describing...its the 3rd picture down, called the gauze filter...still its different from the sponge filter....

also...make sure you go slowly with the kirby (and lower it to its lowest setting) if your carpet is heavily soiled....the enzymes in the shampoo are what clean the carpet (oils, grime, etc) and if its heavily soiled the suds disappear almost immediately.

Hope this helps!!!
