Dishwasher does not fill

The dishwasher does not fill completely on one or more stages (wash or rinse) during a wash OR it does not fill at all during one or more stages.

Water pressure is OK.

When it does fill it does not drain prematurely.

Hi,
Double check that your water supply line is not kinked.
This sounds like a bad fill valve. If you have hard water and most everyone does after a few years the valve will quit working properly and will fail in one of 2 ways a slow or no fill or it will not shut off completely.
I hope this helps if I can help with anything else please let me know.

Why is the Rinse Cycle and Drying not working

Unfortunately you did not specify the model dishwasher so I'll give you a general answer.
(The indicator light, straight from Washing moves to completion stage where the light blinks rapidly) I believe you means the "End LED" (LED 3) blinks rapidly. If this is true and according to your description of failure (no drying, no rinsing) I think that appeared alarm AL04. It means the thermistor (NTC) not compliant - probable failure of the component that detects the temperature .
I suggest you to check: thermistor NTC, wiring and electronic.

The washer only fills halfway up during rinse cycle only, even on high water setting. it fill completely during the wash cycle.

Has it always done this or just recently? Some washers have lower rinse fills then spray the water on the clothes as it goes through its cycle.

Soap residue on glasses, dishes & flatware...what can I do..I use Cascade & JetDry

Instructions Things You'll Need:
  • Vinegar or lemon juice
  • Gel dishwasher detergent
  1. dishwashers have a rinse aid dispenser. If your dishwasher has this dispenser, fill it up periodically and it will release the appropriate amount of rinse aid automatically at the right time during the wash cycle. This will help your dishes rinse more cleanly.
  2. Rinse aid in solid form
    Some older dishwashers or basic models do not have an automatic rinse aid dispenser. In this case, you can buy rinse aid in solid form that attaches to your dishwasher rack. Solid rinse aid can be hard to find in stores because it is not commonly used, but it can be purchased online.
  3. Vinegar or lemon juice
    Appliance repairmen will tell you that one of the common problems they see with dishwashers is the buildup of excess detergent. If there is too much detergent in your dishwasher, your dishes will not rinse cleanly, no matter how good the dishwasher is or how much rinse aid you use. To clean the excess detergent that has built up inside your dishwasher, put 3 tablespoons of vinegar or lemon juice (concentrate is fine) in the empty dishwasher and run the dishwasher through a complete cycle with no dishes. Do this twice, for two complete cycles of the empty dishwasher with only vinegar or lemon juice added. The acid in the vinegar or lemon juice will break up the detergent that has built up in your dishwasher's interior.

    After you have cleaned the detergent buildup from the inside of your dishwasher, follow the steps below to keep the buildup from happening again and to help your dishes rinse cleanly and prevent residue from accumulating on the dishes.
  4. Gel dishwasher detergent
    Switch to a liquid or gel dishwasher detergent. Any brand will do.
  5. Fill one compartment half full Dishwashers will effectively clean dishes with much less detergent than manufacturers often recommend. The bleach in the detergent, combined with the extremely hot water used in the dishwasher wash cycle, will clean and sanitize your dishes completely, even in small amounts, and using less detergent helps prevent buildup and residue from accumulating on your clean dishes.

    Fill only one detergent compartment(the one that snaps closed) half full with gel detergent. Snap the opening closed and run your dishwasher as you normally would. Your dishes will come out sparkling clean with no buildup or residue, plus you'll save money by using less detergent!

Fon the dishwasher

Hi, welcome to Fixya.

Based on the info you've provided, the dishwasher is indicating a error during the "fill" stage, hence the "F" being displayed on the Bosch machines.

Here's how to perform a test or diagnostic...

Make sure the power button is in the off position ( open & closing of the door will activate the "auto shut off" ).

Once certain it is "off" press and hold both the regular button and rinse & hold button, then turn the unit "on" while continuing to depress those 2 buttons. Initially, control module version # will display ( i.e. "20" = version "0" without jumper...not important for this ).

When the buttons are now released, the lights above them will flash. To start testing, press both the "regular wash" and "rinse & hold" a second time.

Let the test follow through, ( grab a coffee and observe, this will take a while )

When testing has ended, the display will show an error using codes as follows...
"0" = no error.
"1" = aqua sensor fault.
"2" = heating fault.
"4" = filling fault. and finally.
"8" = NTC ( temperature sensor ) fault.

The "F" code will not appear in test mode, only during wash. If you have a failed level switch for instance the test will display "4" and will continually fill and drain and test won't complete until you press the "on/off" button.

If the test complete's without and error or won't fill, replace the water valve. Original part Part # 425458 at "searspartsdirect.com", "apwagner.com" or #1105846 at "repairclinic.com" ( they use there own numbers ) or you can check locally by your model number & serial number.

Let me know if I can assist you further. Hope you found this helpful and if so please allow for a positive rating.

Thank you for choosing "fixya" and good luck.

Our dishes have white film on them. 5 repairmen have said they have no idea to the cause. We have tried everything vinegar, rinse aids etc. Could it be a pressure problem due to a plumbing default in...

on an empty cycle fill the machine and use some C.L.R or other lime and scale remover in the machine and let it wash through the cycle.

try putting more water in the tub once the fill cylcle has completed and the wash cycle starts.Make sure the incoming water temp is at least 120 degrees.

if there is no change in the washing of the dishes
you may need to replace the main wash pump. if there is a change then you need to replace the fill valve or increase the water pressure to allow more water in the unit during the fill cycle
