The dsl connection is your broadband signal. check the router box. if the dsl light is off or flashing on the front, the setup will not work. this light needs to be solid. remove all devices from telephone sockets in your house, connect just one filter and your new router to it. check the dsl signal, if the light is solid green. the problem is with the physical setup in your house. If the dsl light still flashes contact your isp or broadband supplier.

Error code 800710D8

You can install the CD on wired or wireless computer. However,if you are using any wireless computer to install the router using CD then,turn-off the third party wireless utility on the computer.

If you are still unable to configure the router then, you can configure the router manually.

If your Internet Service Provider is Cable follow this link to configure the router.

If your Internet Service Provider is DSL follow this link configure the router.

Can't get it networked on my mac that has windows parallel xp cant find it

Hi
I recognize the importance of resolving this issue and I look forward in providing you with the necessary assistance you need.

Problem: Cannot get network on the Mac not specified
OS : MAC computer Windows installed on it
Printer Office jet 6500 Wireless.

Solution :
There are few thing which are required to know before we start trouble shooting

IMPORTANT : Before you can install the product, your wireless network must already be set up. (To set up your network, follow the instructions that came with your particular access point.)

IMPORTANT : Before you can install the product, you must have the following information about the network:
  • Network name : The network name is the SSID (Service Set Identifier).
  • Password : WEP key or WPA passphrase

For a new product:CD installation is a quick and easy method and if you do not have a CD, you can download the software you need.

CD installation : CD installation might not work if you are installing the product on a computer running a newer operating system that released AFTER the HP product released as the software on the CD is current to the date of the product release.

Downloading the HP Drivers :Downloading the software provides the best results for your older product. Even though it takes more time than using the CD, downloading the latest software can help you avoid installation issues. Downloading is also the recommended method if your computer operating system released after the HP product released. The software that you can download from the HP Web site is the most current software available for your product. HP often updates software and drivers AFTER the product and CD release to the market ..

Wireless installation: If you have not previously installed the software, follow these instructions.
Step one: Prepare for installation
1 Make sure that you have the following requirements before you begin:
  • Network name: The network name is the SSID (Service Set Identifier).
  • WEP key or WPA security passphrase
  • A computer that is connected to the wireless network.
  • Internet access. HP recommends broadband Internet access such as cable or DSL.
  • Your wireless-capable HP product. Place it close to the computer during the installation procedure.
  • A USB cable (used only during installation).
  • Administrator privileges or password
2. Make sure the product, access point, and computer are all on, and that the computer is connecting to the wireless network.
3. Connect the USB Cable to the rear port of the HP product and to any USB port on the computer.
4. Exit all applications running on your computer.Install the software
To install the product software, follow the steps for the method that you want to use (CD or download).
Method one: Install the software with the software CD
  1. Insert the Macintosh product CD into the CD drive of the computer.
  2. Double-click the HP software disc icon that displays under the Xp/Macintosh HD icon.
  3. Double-click the HP Installer icon. The HP Installer program opens.
  4. Follow the on-screen instructions to start the installation.
  5. When prompted to set up your device and software, select Continue .
  6. If a check mark does not appear, select Configure your device for a wireless network , and then select Continue.
  7. Follow the on-screen instructions to finish installing the software
Option two: Change connection type
1. Open HP Device Manager.
2. From the Information and Settings drop-down menu, click Setup Assistant . 3. The HP Setup Assistant window opens.
4. Follow the on-screen instructions to change your connection type to an existing wireless network.

Driver

not sure why you will need USB drivers for your adsl2+ modem/ wireless router and 4 port LAN switch. It would help you had provided the model number.

The device uses a LAN ethernet port to connect to the computer. You will need atleast one computer to be on the LAN port for setting it up. Once setup is complete you can use wireless connection for every computer.

The user manual & drivers or the DSL-2740B which appears similar to your product description
http://www.dlink.com.au/tech/Download/download.aspx?product=DSL-2740B

Not sure if you need these. Your computers will need LAN or wireless drivers to connect to this DLINK modem/ router.

Good luck

Ran the setup wizard for the d link di 514 but still cant connect to internet

Do you have Internet connection before you installed the Dlink router? Do you have cable or DSL? If you have DSL make sure you have the username and password from your Internet service provider because you need to enter those information when you run the set up wizard. You need to connect your computer to the LAN port of the router. Turn off computer and router, turn on router first then turn on the computer. Run the set up wizard again.

No activity on my new speedstream 4200

Ethernet and DSL lights are indicating you have ADSL available on your line, and that you have computers connected to the router.

What has probably happened is that Optus did not set up the new router with your username and password. Go to thw following website for details on how to setup the modem.

http://help.optuszoo.com.au/help/dsl/connected/windows/optus_modems/speedstream_4200

Manual Modem Settings The Optus DSL Broadband self-installation CD configures all the necessary settings for your DSL Broadband service. You do not need to manually configure your modem if you have run the self-installation CD. While the following information is provided for your reference, using the self-installation CD is the recommended method for configuring your modem.
The Siemens SpeedStream 4200 ADSL modem can use either USB or Ethernet to connect to your computer.
  • If you are connecting via USB you will need to run the self-installation CD to install the USB driver before you connect your modem. The Siemens SpeedStream 4200 ADSL modem supplied by Optus has been customised for the Optus DSL Broadband service. Only the USB driver supplied on the self-installation CD will work with the Optus service. If you do not have the self-installation CD, you can download the latest drivers from the Siemens website.
  • If you are connecting via Ethernet it is possible to manually configure your modem without the self-installation CD. Only a web browser is required.
After connecting your modem there are two key steps to manually configure your modem for the Optus DSL Broadband service:
  • PC settings - Configure your computer's Ethernet network interface.
  • Configure Your Modem - Set the password in your modem's configuration pages.

PC Settings Step by step instructions are provided for each of the supported Windows operating systems:
  • Windows 98/Me
  • Windows 2000
  • Windows XP
  • Windows Vista

Configure Your Modem To configure your modem settings you must now access the configuration manager using your web browser. This is done by entering the IP address in the address bar of the browser window as follows:
Note: If you are updating the password in your modem, please complete steps 1 to 3 only.
Step 1 of 5
  • Enter http://10.1.1.1 (Default IP address of the Optus Supplied Siemens SpeedStream 4200) to access the modem Configuration software. You may wish to add this page to your Favorites for easy access later.
  • The following modem System Summary screen will appear.

  • Replace the default username ([email protected]) with the username provided for you by Optus DSL Broadband.
  • Replace the default password with the password provided by Optus DSL Broadband in the Password field.
  • Note: You will find your Optus DSL Broadband username and password on the letter you received with your self-installation kit.
  • Save these details by clicking the Save Settings button.
Step 3 of 5
  • The next screen will ask you to disconnect and reconnect to the Optus DSL Broadband service.
ss4200_ppp_reconnect.gif
  • Click the link to return to the System Summary page.

  • Click the Disconnect button to disconnect the modem from the Optus DSL Broadband service. The text on the button will change to Connect.

I just purchased a Linksys WRT150N router & just followed initial instructions to install it. These instructions said to run the CD first before I do anything else. I did this & was left with their...

Router setup
If you are using the cd that comes with the router, that is the problem. You do not have to use the cd. Go to the control panel and un-install the program that the cd installed. then:
Shutdown your PC. Unplug the power from the router and the cable modem.
Wait 30 sec. then plug in the power to the cable modem, wait 30 sec. then plug the power to the router. Wait till you have "Internet" light then restart your PC. The PC should pick up an IP address and you should be able to get on-line. This is if you have a cable service provider. If you have DSL, the router needs to be configured with PPOe.

You have DSL, so you need to access the router's setup page and put your username and password in the PPOe settings.
See this page for instructions:
http://linksys.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/linksys.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=3687

Also, your DSL provider is a good source of tech support and they will help you set it up.

Click on this link or copy and paste the complete link into your browser.
If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it.
Thanks, Joe
