Battery will not charge and PTO will not stay engaged

I have changed battery, ignition switch, selinod and battery cables - still nothing. I must jump the battery off to start every time.

At the same time the PTO/Electric Clutch began disengaging after about ten minutes.

Any suggestions - I hate to just dispose of this mower as it is only a couple years old?

SOURCE: Husqvarna yth2448 pto switch kills motor/battery will not charge

you may hav a bad alt. problem with the mower dying when you engage the pto is most likley a bad sensor or wire unplugged on the seat sensor.the way it works is if the blades are turning and it dosent sense you being on the seat the mower shuts down.this has been standard on mowers for quite a few years now. it keeps the blades from cutting you up if you fall off the seat while mowing. as for charging i would try cleaning the battery connections and get the battery checked first.

SOURCE: craftsman riding mower blades won't disengage

Sounds like the shear bolt is broken, Do you have and owners manual to show you the location of shear bolt? They are easily replaced.

Dixon blades wont engage, PTO fine when wired to another battery but wont engage when wired directly to mower battery with engine running. Does it need a new battery or is the alternator not working.

Alternator charging unit not working properly is the most likely, but could also be a safety switch or believe it or not the ignition switch. The ignition switch if bad can draw small amounts of current when not running and cause battery to drain just enough to start but not enough to engage the pto

Husqvarna yth1848xp wont turn over

Are you getting 12 volts to the starter? It sounds like one of the safety switches (seat switch) may be killing the circuit. The seat switch cannot simply be jumped. And check the 20 amp fuse.

Safety switch?

There is one under the seat and if your PTO switch is bad it could think that the blades are engaged and that would also keep the mower from starting.

Motor stalls when PTO engaged

its ether the regulator or the stator in the engineas for as the pto killing the engine it might only need a govenor adjustment to take care of that problem

Engine wont start after charging, will start with a jump. The pto will not engage

Sounds to me like you need to scrape the **** off of the battery cable ends and the battery posts,or you just have a battery that has sulfated and will not take a charge.Repairing the connections or installing a new battery should fix the starting problem and because the pto is engaged with electricity it should fix that too.

Husqvarna Mdl YTH2448 Riding Mower - Electric PTO Not Working

It sounds like your charge system is not working. If you jump the battery the engine will run with a weak battery but the pto clutch needs a strong battery to stay engaged.Try this to test it,after you jump it leav the jumper cables hooked up and try to engage the blade clutch,if it runs it is either a battery that wont take a charge or a charge system not working. If you put a volt meter on the battery while the engine is running and the voltage is 13 volts the charge system is working and the battery is bad.
