I can't open the oven after I cleaned it

If your oven is locked , here's some ways you can unlock it :

1 Look for a manual lever to unlock the oven. If there is one, it will probably swing back and forth horizontally, just below the upper edge of the oven door.

2 Swing the locking lever, if one is present, all the way to the left. This should unlock the oven. If there is no manual lever to unlock the oven, it may be unlocked using push-button controls.

3 Check to see if the oven is in a self-cleaning cycle, or has just completed a self-cleaning cycle. If so, the door will unlock automatically once the oven has finished the cleaning cycle and cooled completely, which may take several hours. You cannot unlock the oven before it has cooled.

4 Unlock the "Clean/Off" button. Depending on the brand and model of your oven, the button may display both of these designations or just one. If your oven door is locked, but the oven is not warm and is not in a cleaning cycle, unlock it by pressing and holding the "Clean/Off" button.

But it seems you have food inside so ,
Press cancel on the cooking cycle , and let it cool to room temperature , and then try to open your oven .

A self cleaning oven that won't open after the self cleaning cycle is usually the oven has not had time to cool down from the high temperatures of cleaning. You should wait at least an hour to open it. You can also try to unplug the unit or turn of the breaker to the over for at least five minutes. You will then have to reset the clock and then try to move the door lock. If that does not work, you can set the self clean cycle again for but only allow it to work for 15 minutes, then cancel the cycle and let the oven cool and then again try to move the door lock or open the door If that does not work, then the lock will have to be accessed and moved manually to open the door
Some ovens need the door to be manually unlatched before the controls are set to the off position before they can be unlocked.

F90 Maximum oven door unlock time exceeded.
F91 Maximum oven door unlock attempts exceeded.
F92 Maximum oven door open time exceeded.
F93 Maximum oven door lock time exceeded.
F94 Maximum oven door lock attempts exceeded.


1. (F90, 91, 92, 93 & 94) Check the wiring between EOC & Lock Motor Micro Switch.

2. (F90, 91, 92, 93 & 94) Replace the Motor Door Latch assembly if necessary.

3. (F90, 91, 92, 93 & 94) Check for binding of the Latch Cam, Lock Motor Rod & Lock Motor Cam.

4. (F90, 91, 92, 93 & 94) Check to see if Lock Motor Coil is open. If open, replace Lock Motor Assembly.

5. (F90, 91, 92, 93 & 94) Lock Motor continuously runs - if Micro Switch is open, replace Lock Motor Assembly.

6. (F92, 93 & 94) Check oven door Light Switch - if open, replace Switch.

7. If all situations above do not solve problem, replace EOC.


F90 is a door lock code, Try this...
unplug the range.
wait 1 minute.
turn the range back on,
then while holding in on the oven door.
start another self clean.
wait 2 minutes.
then cancel the self clean.

do not release the door until the door lock light goes out.

Unplug the unit or shut off the circuit breaker for 5 minutes. Plug the unit back in or turn on the circuit breaker. Set the clock and gently try moving the door lock lever (is so equipped) or opening the door.

Set the self-clean cycle again and only allow it to work for 15 minutes. Cancel the self-clean cycle and allow the oven to cool. Gently try moving the door lock lever (is so equipped) or opening the door.
If these procedures fail to correct the condition, the lock must usually be accessed and moved manually to open the door.
Some model ovens require the oven door to be manually unlatched before the controls are returned to the OFF position or else the door may not be able to be unlocked. Check the owner's manual for proper operating procedures.

After the lock indicator light goes out, move the door lock lever to the left. The oven door can now be opened. Turn the selector and temperature knobs from clean to off AFTER THE DOOR IS UNLOCKED. If the temperature knob is turned to off BEFORE the door is unlocked, the door will not open. Forcing the lock will damage the lock mechanism. If this should happen, return the temperature knob back to CLEAN, unlock the door, THEN turn the temperature knob off. the oven door does lock during self clean, otherwise it will not work. however, the door is supposed to unlock after the oven has cooled. if it is still locked, turn the oven to self clean and wait about a minute and then hit cancel and see if the door unlocks. if not, there may be a probelm with the door lock mechanism. Hold oven door light in while touching clean cycle enter up arrow or down arrow then hit cancel. door will unlock.

I have Jenn Air oven S136-C with a locking bar. After cleaning cycle wait for the oven to cool down and the lock light will go out (but the oven is not yet unlocked.) Set SELECTOR knob to OFF Set TEMPERATURE knob to CLEAN Press CANCEL button (on right) twice. Slide the locking bar to the left and the oven door will open.
