Nortel N441 "master phone": insistent blinking red lights; static when line's picked up; randomly hangs up... & now is basically nonfunctional as the lights won't stop blinking... it's also ringing by itself w/o anyone calling it. I've tried resetting it, exchanging phone jacks, & when switched w/ another user phone - that user phone is working fine... how do I get it to stop?! Comments: Apr 15, 2010- sorry: Nortel T7316E all the triangles blink on & off w/ a red light. Can't even get into the feature mode.

Hi, whao!, that's a control board panel problem. You have to do a general servicing for the control board which means dismantling the phone, checking some of the I.C if they need replacement and cleaning the board with spirit...Should in case you cannot do this yourself, then call in a electronic technician to do it..

All of a sudden the line lights on our nortel switch Meridian M7310 phones started blinking and the lines are dead. Any ideas?
If you only have one line,why not just lose the Nortel system? You can reuse the wiring from the phone sets to the contoller as regular inside wire,and just plug in regular phones(and maybe put the Nortel phones and controller on EBay and make a few bucks off it!)

My nortel n441 says locked mailbox this happened after trying to change password can you help me
Feature 983 log in is 120000 (if 2 digit extension, 1020000 if 3 digit, 10020000 if 4 digit extensions)
Select Mbox, enter that locked extensions mail box number, You will see password RESET. Select RESET. Release out. This will reset that mail box password to 0000. Use feature 981 on that phone and enter the new default password of 0000. you will then be prompted to change the password.

Feature 985 will show you the extension of the phone you are using.

I have a used Nortel Networks T7316E and for some reason when I plug it in to the phone line at home I get no dial tone and the light at the top and the three buttons on the bottom (headset)(Mute) etc......
The Nortel 7316 set is propriatary which requires the nortel system in qrder to work., The pulsing lights are the set reacting to the standard line voltage.In order for it to work in your house you'll have to install the nortel phone cabinetand then attach the set(s) to it.

Phone line won't hang up
I would check the DSL filters. Your phone should not interfere with the DSL. Make sure there is a filter on any line going into your phones. If there is a filter replace it and see if that works. Also, check other equipment on the line, fax, computer, credit card machine. They will need filters from the DSL too. Remove these other devices and check the line for the problem then add them back one at a time.

Feature 806 means Static time and date, but sometimes it shuts off the message waiting indicator lamp???
