My picture goes out but sound remains. Prior to picture going out I get a black screen with a red and blue line for a split second then black. However, the sound remains. If I keep turning the TV on and off, mutliple times, the picture will come back. Lately, it's getting worse. Today was the worse, but eventually I get the picture back. When there is a picture, its a beautiful picture for how old this TV is. Mitsubishi VS-50501 50 inch rear projection.

I also had blown capacitors on my power supply. You can see when they're bad: the tops split or bubble up like a dome. I changed most of the caps, just to be sure, and it fixed the problem. Careful of the larger capacitors. They stay powered for some time and can shock you pretty badly. Good Luck
If you have tone on line one you should be using colors red/green. The 2nd line will be using colors black/yellow. Make sure that the cable is going back to the telephone company's bridge (the box outside the house).
If you are using Cat5 then the wire colors will be white/blue-blue/white the 2nd line will be white/orange-orange/white.
I know this sound a little confusing but the attached tables and picture should help.
Hi, This is symptom of defective red picture tube in TV that needs to be replaced. Let me know if you want to replace it by yourself to provide you part number info or call tv tech to do the job. Thanks.
you have what they call guns in the back of the tv blue/green and red and sounds like they have came out of adjustment. as far as the picture being black and white you should get a tv technician to check it
This should be a quick fix. Try resoldering the vertical IC. This is a small flat IC attached to a heat sink with about 11 pins. It should be marked LA7837 or something similar. That should resolve the problem.
I have the same problem. The next stage is that the picture won't come on at all and the blue light will constantly blink. I think the light source is bad. Noit sure though.
