I just installed the Pioneer D3 in my car and when I used the video for both the Ipod through the ipod dock cable and my zune through the A/V connection, they screen on both went blank like a elecric short.
Is there any additional wire I might have forgotten to ground?
Also, the ipod and zune went bad when I left the units (At separate times) attached and turned the car off. When I went back to my car and tried to start the units, they were disfunctional.
Thanks in advance and I hope you have a solution to my problem.
I would recommend searching on www.avic411.com. I read lots of issues where certain ipods with specific firmware levels had issues. The good news is that most have some type of solution.

ok for the first post with the ipod not showing video .. make sure that you have the correct cable running from behind the deck to the ipod .. (iPod Direct Control (CD-I200 Required) once you have that connected you need to go to the video settings of your ipod and turn on the video out .. by default its offf... also remember with movies on your ipod .. that has to be manually selected from the ipod itself .. you cant control the videos from the pioneer unit.. only the audio/music on your ipod can be selected from the pioneer unit..
Do you have an ipod module or are you using ibus-to-rca cable to connect your ipod to the D3? In order to control full ipod functions by touch screen you need the ipod module, hence the D3 says ipod control ready not ipod control built in. Let me know so I can pin point the problem.
I am having the same problem with my new ipod. However, the 5th gen ipod which i also own plays videos on the unit perfectly. So i am very dissapointed with the new ipod how it doesnt work.
Not sure if that works, but me us know if it does. Everything I have read suggests that it will not work. Apple has blocked any after market products from working like avic-d3. I think what you would also need with that is Apple TV. Let me know
You have to roll back the firmware to 1.0.2 in order to get video its the only thing i have been able to find that works and i have been searching for a long time
on pioneer head units u can only use apple ipod and nano and up....if its a usb cord then it should work but if it is only the hook up off the cd player nano and up and only apple ipods
Not sure which ipod you are using but be sure to use the backlight on the ipod (always on) when you have it connected. It eliminates certain noise heard in the background. Also be sure the level is calibrated how you need it, turn up or down the input level using the SLA adjustment from the sound menu item. It allows you do adjust from as much as +4 louder or decrease it as low as -4. You might either have the signal being too low or too loud causing clipping. Also be sure your ipod has updated firmware, there are certain fixes that address battery, hard drive noise, etc on the units. It may also be your ipod has issue, try using it in someone else's vehicle or try it on another dock connector to test the levels there.
