RAM compatibility Hi, I have D845GVSR motherboard and I am looking to upgrade my RAM. I am curious if any RAM which confirms to following specs will be good to go or are there other considerations as well. Max Supported RAM2 GB Memory TypeDDR SDRAM Supported RAM Speeds266 MHz · 200 MHz · 333 MHzNumber of Memory Slots2 x 184 Pin DIMMs I have gone to the following site http://support.intel.com/support/motherboards/desktop/d845gvsr/sb/CS-027113.htm but the problem is the models mentioned there are not available at local stores and their online prices are way higher then those which are of same spec (266 MHz, 184 pin, 1GB, Non ECC, PC2700/PC3200) and available locally. Thanks for helping. regards

It doesn't accept a memory ram upgrade. I had 512 MB and wanted to install 1 GB but the beeps started to sound.

Hi there,

The beeps are likely related to a memory issue on your motherboard when you boot up. This is usually caused by either getting a bad Stick of RAM, or the specs of the RAM are not compatible with your motherboard. Make sure that the specs of the new RAM is exactly the same as the specs of the old RAM. Each motherboard can only accept certain specifications of RAM. If you have additional questions feel free to leave a comment and I will get back to you on it.

The processors compatible with this motherboard are Intel Celeron D and Pentium 4 Socket 478 series of Processors. Its maximum RAM capacity appears to be 2Gb of Non Error Correcting DDR SD RAM, spread over 3 RAM Slots.

I include official INTEL links that specify a List of Supported Processors, a List of Supported RAM Configurations, a Comprehensive Drivers Download Page, with Automatic Device and Driver Detection Tool, a Detailed Motherboard Manual in PDF Format and a Typical Retail Configuration.

I have an Intel 845 Gvsr Motherboard, with 512 mb 266 Mhz RAM I want to upgrade the system to 320GB, with 2 Gb RAM, and also I want to make it HD Compatible is it possible, and is it worth taking a risk. ...

Upgrading HDD is no risk for your PC. The RAM memory instead should cause a problem if it's not compatible. The problem that can appear is simple: your computer won't start until you take out the ram memory. Your type of motherboard supports:Max 2Gb of RAM (DDR SDRAM)
