Bought 03/13/2010 . During wash cycle, it stops and "wash"light begins flashing. The code I counted was the F8E1
F8 is shown when the heater circuit is on with no water in.. it doesnt do it when you unplug the pressure switch because your disabling the heat protect circuit
THE BOARD IS PROBABLY FAULTY
F08 indicates pressure switch stuck on full.
Unplug the appliance from the wall socket.
Take the top off the machine.
Locate the pressure switch, you can identify it by the thin tube attached to it.
Take the tube off, blow down this tube as hard as you can to shift any blockage or restriction in the pressure chamber. Give the pressure switch a couple of good taps with the screwdriver handle.
Refit the tube and try the machine again.
If still doing it, unplug again and follow the tube down.
This end will be attached to the pressure chamber.
Take this chamber off and thoroughly clean it out, clean out the port into the tub too.
Reassemble and try again.
If after this it's still faulty you'll need to start replacing parts.
I'd suggest trying a new pressure switch first.
Failing this, if all of the above fails to resolve the problem you're possibly looking at a faulty main control board.

I had the same issue...this post was awesome...followed the hose to the pressure switch and then seen a ton of rubber shavings on the hose where it had been rubbing against the drum. This caused a pinhole in the pressure hose.
I was able to cut it off and still attach appropriately.

Check your pressure hose. My hose had rubbed against the tub and it had rubbed a hole through the hose. Replaced the hose and so far it works great
mine did the same thing and yes there was a hole in the hose.. used a fitting to fix it and all is good. thanks.

I have the Whirlpool Duet washer and got the F8E1 error code. I had the mother board replaced less than a year ago so there was no way I was going to have another service call.
During the spin cycle, my washer got forced out from the wall due to the load getting unbalanced.
The washer would fill with water at the start of the cycle but would not STOP filling so then the error code would start beeping thus shutting the machine down. I thought it was the fill valve, but it wasn't.
I took off the top lid and on the right hand side is a little 'fuse' type plug which connects to the hoses and it had come loose and was unplugged from it's connector. I plugged it back in and presto! Everything works. The jarring of the machine away from the wall had loosened it over time I guess and the violent spinning cycle today finally dislodged it.
I found the disconnected hose that came off the pressure switch. Blew the hose out and reconnected with a ziptie and im back in business. Thanks guys!!!

I had the same problem. I took the top and back off and found that the hose had come loose and rubbed against the motor. I replaced the hose for 2 bucks from the auto parts store and blew out the switch. Works fine and saved a couple of hundred bucks.
PLEASE READ: Before you take everything apart like I did, CHECK THE WATER INLET SCREENS where hoses connect to washer. I made the huge mistake of spending all afternoon taking apart the water pump, the pressure valve, cleaning all the lines just to have the problem continue. Turns out the problem was just a huge calcium build up on the cold water inlet screen. Once the calcium has solidified there is absolutely no way to get the screen out without damaging it. No worries, just break it out and purchase a new screen at home depot. Check the hot water side while you are at it. If this is not the problem, your likely culprit is a clog in the pressure house or a failure in the water pump. Clean everything up first and if that fails, you will need to start buying replacement parts. Water pump, pressure valve and tubing. Make sure to check the tubing connecting the pressure valve to the drain line. This can get clogged or have a leak in the line. Remove and blow into to test for pressure.
