How do I ignite my whirpool gas dryer?

Hi,

If you are having problems with your gas dryer not heating the most common problem is that the ignitor goes bad. Even though it glows sometimes it is still not working properly.

if you dryer is gas check out this gas no heat tip....

If you have an electric dryer, you can have many different things that can go wrong causing the dryer not to heat.

We are in a new house and trying to figure out how long the exhaust vents should be concerning safety fire hazard. Model # lgr8648lwo

As short as possible with no turns if possible. Ideally it would be short and stright, If possible have someone small that can climb over machine after tighting the clamps. Use a aluminum hose and snips or dikes to cut. Do not use the plastic ones they are a fire hazard and a code violation in many states.

Hi i have a whirlpool gas dryer LGR8648LWO and

If your ignitor (glow bar) is glowing that indicates the thermal fuse is okay.

With the symptoms you are describing it is acting more like an air flow issue than a component failure. Make sure your door seal is good, your venting is connected properly and try it again. I would not install the thermal fuse.

Maytag Dryer Has No Power

i am sorry to hear this, mdg model number means that you have a gas dryer, you have a fuse and thermastat that needs to be replaced which is beneath the top behind the drum, you will see a short element, a blue thermastat and 2 white wires that goes down to a fuse.

when you buy the fuse, it comes as a kit, the thermastat and 2 fuses, one of the small fuses you will not use because one if for an electric dryer, so look at your fuse and notice a dot, i do believe your dot will be yellow...

so lift up the top and you will see these parts

No heat after a minute of drying

Normal 0 Hi, You need to change the coils on the top of the gas valve. This is a very common problem with the newer gas dryers.
UNPLUG the dryer. This model you need to remove the two screws under the lint screen. Now use a flat blade screw drive and insert it in the gap between the top and the front panel and pry the top up. Now locate and remove the screws on the inside of the front panel in upper corners. The front should lift off. You will see the two black coils on the gas valve. When you remove the three wire coil, make sure the sleeve inside it gets put back on the post thecoils slides onto.
If I can assist you further, please let me know.

Thanks
Vic

No heat after a minute of drying

Your GAS dryer has no element.
You should remove the vent from the rear of the dryer.
Run on hi heat with no laundry.
Your exhaust temperature should be from 130 to 165 degrees.
If not you have a thermostat problem or a ignitor/gas valve problem.
