My DYMO Datemark Date/Time Stamper Printer is stamping jumbled letters and numbers after sitting idle for several hours. After it is used 2-5 times, then the date/time print out correctly, but the first use of the day it jumbles the date/time. I put new batteries in, but that did not help. What could be the problem?

Take off the back cover and insert the tip of a pen or paper clip in the little button between the 3.0 volt battery door and the AA batteries. It is "printer reset" around the little hole. This should work. It works unless something is wrong with the ribbon of letters that can get stuck. I'm trying right now to get my to reset using this solution (that has worked previously) but it is not. So it is a **** shoot!
Mine usually last at least 6 months. But I am careful to lean it back slightly to make sure It's not touching the switch on the bottom, and I only use fresh energizer batteries.
You have to remove the ink roll door, on the front left near the bottom. Pull the roller out with a tweezers, add a few drops of ink to the roll and re-install. No matter how careful you are, you will get some ink on your hands...
mine is doing the same thing. I read that the 3V battery may need to be changed.... so I changed the 3V and all four AA batteries and hit reset and am still experiencing the same as you. Random **** printing when display seems okay. Never same stuff twice. Very frustrating.
I had the exact same problem. I took the back off of the stamper and like some others, I pushed the reset button with a pen. Surprise it worked!!! I am now able to date stamp my "stuff".
You might try connecting the USB cable directly to one of the computer's USB ports. My scale (DigiWeigh) showed as not connected when it was connected to a USB hub. When it is connected directly to the computer, it shows the scale as connected. Unfortunately, it still won't transfer weights to the Dymo Stamps software.
if it is an older model [2001 or so] you just gently put your hand over the top like your going to pick it up but just push down and slightly forward. there is a button on the underside.
