Mitsubishi projection TV model VS-5047 won't turn on
Mitsubishi projection TV model VS-5047. Yesterday the TV died like someone took the remote and turned it off. When you try to turn it on the green indicator light stays on 2 seconds and turns itself off. Is there a replaceable part, a switch maybe , that I could get and fix it myself ?

Is this a CRT (picture tube) or LCD, DLP projetion set. DLP and LCD are lamp driven CRT have three picture tubes (red green and blue). You can tell by looking at the back pof the set if you see the glow of white light than it's a LCD or DLP. Lamps can be purchased at "bluestar international" ($100-$400) (google it) and CRT's are not worth replacing (over $300 each_)
That is a VZ3 chassis, similar to Mitsubishi models Ts-4545, Ts-5045, Ts-5545, Vs-4543, Vs-4544, Vs-5043, Vs-5044, Vs-5047, Vs-6043, Vs-6047 and has common failures in the vertical circuit, specifically vert Ic401 which is a La7845 which is usually caused by defective C402 100uf 50v and/or open 1.2 ohm 2 watt R510 next to FBT.
If not that check C268 off Q215 on signal board 22mf/50v and Ic200 on signal module Cxa2025s. However the vertical failure is more likely.

I had just put in about $500 worth of work into this TV to clean the color tubes of bacteria and other miscellaneous problems - They kept my TV for 3 months before bringing it back. It worked for 2 days and then everything went green, so they came back and took it for another 30 days before bringing it back.
This new problem could have been anything as simple as a tube to a circuitry problem. We decided to junk this Mitsubishi product. I have a 30 year old Curtis Mathis TV that I've never had any problems with (that's 3 times the age of the Mitsubishi).
We've opted for a new 50-inch Panasonic Plasma with the anti burn in technology. I will not buy another Mitsubishi product, or a rear projection TV of any brand after this experience.
THIS MODEL IS EQUIPPED WITH A KEYBOARD LOCK FEATURE; THIS CAN BE MISTAKEN AS A NO POWER CONDITION. TO UNLOCK THE KEYBOARD PRESS AND HOLD THE "MENU" BUTTON ON THE FRONT PANEL FOR 10 SECONDS
First off can you answer this:Is it possible to hook up my Mitsubishi 60" Gold rear projection tv (with Picture in a Picture capabilities) to my "Direct TV DVR", Phillips AV receiver and Phillips DVD player so I can receive picture in pictures of diferent channels i want to view of my "Direct TV" satellite provider. If so I would be glad to pay you for the easy to follow directions and drawings of the possible solution to my problem.
Go to http://www.remotes.com enter in the TV model number, and order it, as there is nothing that can be done in a case like this. You could try to borrow a remote from a local store to switch the set back to the tuner section or borrow an original remote from someone.
