Is the park signal wire supposed to be hooked to the ground side or power side of parking brake switch? I'm trying to install a kvt 512 for a buddy, and the dvd player wont work with out the park signal.

If you want to by-pass the parking brake wire, here's how.
Most wiring harnesses have a solid orage wire for illumination of the radioIs the park signal wire supposed to be hooked to - 2_bing.gif and also have an orange wire with a white stripe for dimming purposes. Most radios do not use this dimming feature. Connect the brake wire to this wire and your able to watch your movies whenever you want. All the wire is looking for is a signal. It cannot differentiate between a parking brake signal and a non-parking brake signal.

Putting kenwood kvt 617 dvd in rear of surburan how can i bypass parking brake so movies can play while driving

On bypasses you can either hook the parking brake wire straight to ground, if that does not work you can install a toggle switch between the parking brake wire and ground so you can mimic the parking brake on off.

How do i bypass the parking brake switch in order for my video to play

run a jumper to GROUND from that lead. it must remain shorted all the time you intend on watching the dvd player. With that said, I have one in my car that is hooked up that way and I put mine on a toggle switch so that, in the event I get pulled over I can hit the switch and it won't work unless I pull the brake. If you get caught wacthing a movie while moving, there is a fine associated with it! just letting you know. but its very kool to have it on long trips.

If its an aftermarket device, it has a sensor that is connected to the electronics of the vehicle to indicate that it is parked. Check the wiring, find the wire and move it to something that is always on, radio, a/c controls, etc. Best of Luck.

KVT-729 car DVD player

The steering remote control input is for a wired remote control, or a third-party interface that allows you to adapt vehicle steering wheel controls to operate your deck. Your problem is the parking sensor wire. This is supposed to be connected to your vehicle's parking brake switch. It detects when the brake is set, and will prevent a picture from showing when it's not set. The intent is to prevent you from watching movies while the vehicle is in motion. If you can get a good look at the parking brake mechanism, you should be able to see the brake switch. Usually there's a single wire coming from the switch, which is built onto the parking brake mechanism. Connect your parking sensor wire to the wire coming from this switch.
