if it's brand new i think you should return it to place of purchase , if not so new anymore , ck the water collection bucket it has a "Tipper" in it that detects a full bucket these are allways getting "out of wack!" and need to be adjusted slightly
Running a dehumidifier when the ambient temperature is to low will cause freeze-ups. Also running it when the dew point of the moisture in the air is to low will cause it to freeze up when you set it to low which would be a higher number on the set point.
The hand written number on the probe casing is probably a quality control inspector number.
