Can an insurance company say they will replace the shingles on a tornado damaged house in NC and not replace the decking when they have slat boards with 3 inch spaces cause their house was built in 1913( need to know if they have to pay for plywood decking as modern building codes stipulate)

It depends on your coverage. contact an independent agency to better understand what the rules of NC insurance states. many times, the policy holder doesnt "get" what the policy covers so you very well may not be covered here. but an independent agency will help you out best. Metal vs. asphalt shingles for residential roofing: which is better and why?

It depends on a variety of factors, including cost, longevity, style, and local climate. Metal is the most durable roofing material, but it can be quite expensive and is not suitable for certain architectural styles. Asphalt shingles are much more economical and typically last 20-30 years, depending on the climate and other external factors. In some climates, asphalt is still the preferred choice because it is better at resisting damage caused by extreme cold or snow. Ultimately, the best option will depend on personal preference and budget.

What to do for fungus on ashpalt shingles?

Try to scrape off as much as you can without damaging the shingles. If you have moss growing on your shingles, you have a debris (needles)/moisture/lack of sunlight. Diluted bleach with water in a spray canister is the cheapest way.

Electricity went off during tornado. Elect came back on two days later but not refrigerator runs but will not cool!

This sounds as if the power surge durring the tornado has fried the compressor. I understand it runs but it really sounds as if it has sustained damage. My suggestion is to contact your homeowners or renters insurance as they should cover this issue.

Liquid damage

If you paid the insurance of $5 every month then you can pay the $100 deductible and get a brand new one. Or maybe try sending it to T-Mobile. But only if you had the insurance. Otherwise your SOL.

Water and a plasma tv

I am sure that there is damage to any of the boards that got wet, or had residue from being wet. The voltages in these sets are fairly high, and thus there is damage. Sometimes a damaged board can cause damage on other boards that are connected to it.

Before writing off the set, give it to the factory service rep just in case it may only be a failed board that is not terribly expensive.

If you had a flood and you have house insurance, find out if you are covered. In this case, let the insurance company deal with the set.
