I brought a pc camera usb 2.o 5.0 megapixel camera for my laptop. It installed the driver software but no software that I can actually take pics and save to my pc.

You can get replacement software for your camera by going to the manufacturers website and downloading it (http://www.sony.com) and then installing it to your pc.

Make sure the camera is not connect to the pc, go to that website click on support and then download drivers and/or software. Enter your camera make and model and then choose your operating system. Download the software and install it. Reboot the pc, then connect the camera and it should auto recoginize it if it was installed correctly. After that just follow the prompts to download pics from your camera.

Those 2 software packages offered by Sony on their web site, (a) ArcSoft Magic-i Visual Effects, and
(b) WebCam Companion Software, may just include the driver necessary to get their packages to
work with Win7 - pick one an install it - if the camera works, you got the driver. If the camera still
refuses to work, then all you have to do is de-install the package, install the other one and
give that a try.

If you can get the pics using a card reader, why are you insisting on using the camera and USB cord? Pros always use a card reader.

1. Load the software which came with the camera.
2. Run the software.
3. Plug in the camera to either the USB port or other inputs recommended by the camera maker.
4. After connecting the camera to the laptop- leave the camera power on.
5. Restart your Laptop.
6. Your laptop will identify that there is a NEW DRIVE ( which is actually the camera)
7. Open up the new drive ( Letter D or E or F) and explore.
8. Open up each picture file from the camera and save them to your hard disk.
9. Later you can switch off the camera and play around with your pics which are now in the hard disk of your laptop. You can edit and crop your pics now. You can even delete unwanted pics.
10. You may want to delte the files on your camera to enable more pics to be taken. To do that you can either delete pics from the camera itself or load up the cam. to your laptop and delete from your pc.

Use a card reader to download your pics.

uninstall fuji software from laptop. plug in data cable, pc will ask u for drivers then load it. if not then pause antivirus for while then use data cable

You can transfer data between your camera and computer without installing all the software.

Once connected to your camera via USB, in my computer you should see an additional drive or the details of your camera, you can transfer from here.

problem with USB port or main pcb

The software supplied with the camera is not compatible with Vista but just connect the camera to your pc, Vista will automatically download the pics.
