This could be the player's connection mode in combination with your synchronization software. If you are using Windows Media Player or Philips Songbird to sync, the player will need to be set for MTP connection mode. Most other software that works with regular flash drives will need the player set for MSC connection mode. Whatever you are using, simply try the other mode.

To change the connection mode, select "PC connection preference" in the Settings menu of the player.

I want to get music on my mp3 player

After you sync your music collection to a Philips GoGear MP3 player with Windows Media Player, your favorite tunes will always be with you. Backing up your music collection on an MP3 player requires only a USB cable and a computer. Follow these steps to find out how easy it is.
jQuery('.intro .thumbnail').each(function(i,e){ jQuery(e).find('img').one('error',function(){ jQuery(e).remove(); }); }); Difficulty: Moderately Easy Instructions Things You'll Need:

  • Philips GoGear MP3 player
  • Computer
  1. Plug in the Philips GoGear to your computer. Use a USB cable to make the connection so you can begin synchronizing your music collection.
  2. Start Windows Media Player. Depending on how your computer is set up, this program may start automatically when you make the connection with the MP3 player.
  3. Find the Sync tab in the media player window. Click on this tab and open the Sync screen. The Sync screen has two panes. The left pane is for the music collection on your computer; the right pane is for the Philips GoGear.
  4. Choose the songs from your collection that you want to add to the GoGear's memory. Check the boxes that are presented by each song title.
  5. Click the "Start Sync" button. The files from your computer are being copied onto your GoGear MP3 player.
  6. Wait for the sync to complete. You can monitor the progress in the "Windows Media Player" window.
  7. Close the media player program. Unplug your Philips GoGear from the computer.

  4. Connect the GoGear to the power supply with the AC/DC adapter.
  5. Make sure all other applications such as Philips Device Plug-in,Windows Media Player or Windows Explorer that accessing the device areclosed or else Device Manager will not recognize the device. Launch theDevice Manager at Start->Programs->Philips DeviceManager->Philips Device Manager on your PC.

How do i manually download music on my philips hdd6330

Windows Media Player 10 is the software that you need to use. Windows Media Player 11 will cause problems for the GoGear HDD series.

Current files on gogear mp3 cant be replaced.

The HDD6330 doesn't respond well to Windows Media Player 11 - I know it's a pain, but you may have to rollback to Windows Media Player 10 to get it to display correctly (don't worry - you will not lose your existing files by doing so).

Converting Files from CDs?

The bit rate and sampling rate that you set for the mp3 format was possibly wrong. Since the 4GB player obviously isn't an HDD6330, I can't tell you what those rates are, but they are on the spec sheet that came with the player in tiny writing (or in the back of the manual sometimes - 50/50 with Philips). Go back into the Rip options in Windows Media Player and set the bit rate to 128. Once ripped, select the Properties for one of the song and find out the sampling rate. If the sampling rate is wrong, you can use a free program called Media Monkey to convert them to the right rate.

Another possibility: the songs that you initially converted were in CDA format. When you went to resync the songs that had been changed to mp3 format, the Philips read them as "already on the player" and ignored the format changes. Delete all the songs off the Philips and resync the songs that are in mp3 format. Good luck!

Use Windows Media Player to transfer songs and rip songs from CD to this player - the help files below will be WAY more helpful than the Philips manual (but, just in case, you can get the manual by going to www.usasupport.philips.com):

The instructions in these pages, which are largely links, pertain to Windows Media Player 10 and 11 only.

Windows Media Player is made by Microsoft. The general help page for Windows Media Player is:

http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/default.mspx

Through this link, you can enter a variety of search terms that will help you find what you are looking for (exs.: “add files to my mp3 player”; “delete files from my mp3 player,” etc.)

Important Vocabulary:

The code word for “mp3 player” in Windows Media Player is “DEVICE” or “portable device”

The code word for adding files is “SYNC,” “syncing,” or “synchronizing”

The code word for copying files from CD is “RIP,” or “ripping”

The code word for files stored on both My Computer and my Mp3 player (when it is connected to the computer) is “LIBRARY”

To add files (SYNC) to your mp3 player using Windows Media Player 10:

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/windowsmediaplayer/wmp10/harrison_wmp10.mspx

To add files (SYNC) to your mp3 player using Windows Media Player 11:

http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/player/faq/sync.mspx

To delete files from your mp3 player using Windows Media Player 10:

http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/knowledgecenter/mediaadvice/0085.mspx#EDF

To delete files from your mp3 player using Windows Media Player 11:

My Directions:

1. Connect your mp3 player to the computer

2. Open Windows Media Player

3. Click on the icon of your Mp3 player on the left-hand side of the Library

4. Click on the Songs, Tracks, or other Music Folder

5. Find a song or songs that you want to delete

6. Left-click the song once to highlight it

7. Press the “Delete” button on your computer’s keyboard

To copy (RIP) files from CD to Mp3 player using Windows Media Player 10:

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/windowsmediaplayer/getstarted/ripcd.mspx

To copy (RIP) files from CD to Mp3 player using Windows Media Player 11:

Use Windows Media Player. Connect the player to the computer, open Windows Media Player, and drag music files in the library tab to the Sync window on the right-hand side of Windows Media Player. Then click "Start Sync".

WMA doesn't detect my Philips GoGear HDD6330 MP3 Player

I have an HDD6330 and instead of using WMP, because it has so many issues, I use Rhapsody free player. It works great, syncs immediately with no issues. It also has easy file transferability.

My philips gogear (6 GB) MP3 player is really messed up and i need help

Here's what happened: When you first synced your GoGear to Windows Media Player, you may have set up the automatic sync option. When this option is selected, Windows Media Player will add EVERY song, picture, etc from your Library on your computer to the GoGear. Now, every time you sync you device, it adds every new file from your computer into the GoGear automatically. It will even delete songs from your GoGear that were on there before.

Go into Windows Media Player 11 with your GoGear connected to the computer (it will automatically sync and add new files one last time), move the mouse cursor over to the sync tab; a small black arrow will appear under the word "Sync"; click on the small black arrow and a dropdown menu will appear; select "Portable media device" from the dropdown menu, and another dropdown menu will appear; select "Set Up sync"; a window will appear with some information on your device - uncheck the box that says "Sync this device automatically"; click Finish; This will eliminate the problem of Windows always adding songs/files you don't want into your player.
