Connect the device to the PC open "My Computer" and "Computer" then look for the device name or any removable device if you can find it then open it and then copy the music files to that drive and remove it.

SOURCE: Dell DJ Ditty

This is a flash memory type player, all you should have to do is plug it in to your computer, select the drive that it is plugged into and it should show all the items on that memory, then select all, and right click to delete. From here you should be able to select different songs from your files and copy them over to that particular drive... See if that helps

Files on Dj Ditty won't show up on computer..

Sounds like you need to reformat the player, but here is my Dell Ditty troubleshooter:

Dell DJ Ditty

http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/P97347/om/OM.pdf - manual

http://www.dellcommunity.com/supportforums/board/message?board.id=dce_djmusic&thread.id=47830 – How to Troubleshoot the Dell DJ Ditty – from Dell

http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/driverslist.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=gen&ServiceTag=&SystemID=PDA_MP3_DJ_DITTY&os=WW1&osl=en&catid=&impid= - Firmware for Ditty

Did you run the installation CD first? If you don't, Windows will load its own, possibly wrong, drivers.

Make sure you didn't accidentally press the player's lock button:
The keys on the Dell DJ Ditty have been locked.
Unlock the keys by pressing in on and holding the
Volume/Scroll/Select dial until the lock icon disappears.

Reset method - Insert the end of a thin object, such as a straightened paper clip, into the reset button (near the headphone jack).

Also make sure your operating system is Windows XP - it won't work on anything before or after.

The Musicmatch service that this player was tied to was discontinued in October 2007, so you’re going to have problems even if we get it working again.

The DJ Ditty does recognize DRM-encryption for WMA files – make sure the license is up to date, or convert the file to mp3 format if you are experiencing licensing issues.

If you are experiencing frequent freezing, or a file system/corruption error, or getting the “Warning! Reformat with Firmware Updater!” message, there are two ways to format the DJ Ditty:

Format using Windows Media Player:
Run Microsoft Windows Media Player.
Connect the DJ Ditty to the computer.
Click the Sync button on the top of the menu.
Click the "Format storage media" button on the right-hand side of the screen.
Disconnect the DJ Ditty and power it back on.

Reload or upgrade the Firmware:
Connect the DJ Ditty to the computer.
Download and install the latest firmware from http://support.dell.com
Run the firmware upgrade program with the "Format Data Area" checked.
Disconnect the DJ Ditty and power it back on.

Computer won't open DJ Ditty

Windows Media Player 11 not compatible with this player.

The device doesn't know if it is a MTP or MSC device - in one of these modes, it will not allow access to the music folder. unfortunately, there is no way to switch between these two modes in the menu settings. Go to Control Panel - Device Manager - find MTP Deivce and update driver.
