First check your monitor with a known working system if possible. If not simply boot up in safe mode change the resolution to a favorable setting like 1024x768 (most LCDs and CRTs can handle that) and restart. Most time I hear this it's because someone has tried to set a system higher than the monitor can handel or has switched to a monitor that cannot handle the settings for an old monitor. Hope this helps!

Acer Veriton 6900 Desktop says no signal and the screen turns off. The towers power light stays on but the fan isn't running.

Hello,

Change the power supply and restart your pc. This will happen when the power supply has gone bad. It sends power to low voltage items but not the needed voltage to power the system on.

Good Luck

My monitor has kicked into sleep mode and won't "wake up".

Unplug all the Cables from Compaq Presario 5103 CL and leave the Keyboard, mouse and monitor cable pluged in.

Now make sure the power cable of the monitor should be pluged in and the power cable of the tower should be pluged in.

Now to check if the montor is fine just unplug the video cable only which will show no input signal on the screen. If it shows this signal the monitor is fine. Plug back in the video cable.

If the monitor is going to sleep mode it might be possible that the old computer ( Compaq Presario 5103 CL ) is in stand by mode. hit any key on the keyboard and it should come back .

If it is not in the stand by mode then do one thing. Check the same monitor with the new computer. If it is working. Perfect ..!

Do one thing now ..!

Unplug all the cables from your old system and then press the power button for 30 sec and let it go. Now plug the keyboard, mouse and the monitor try again.
If it works Perfect. If not ..!

Then you need to open the tower and check on the processor FAN is it running..? If its not running you will not get the display as the fan is responsible for the display on the screen. Otherwise...!

Check the Tower possibly the Tower is not getting the power.

Try these steps and let me know If it works

Montor connection

Your flat screen monitor should have the same connections as your older model, a VGA connection.

Comp not reading montor

It sounds like the on board video has failed. I would try installing a video card on the motherboard. Then in the bios at start up, disable the on board video, so it will use the video card instead.

I hope this helps and thanks for using FixYa,

I shut doen montor and it doesn't come back on

When you try to turn it on do you get lights ? Do you hear any noise like a high pitched noise coming from it ?

Make sure all the connections are secure ( I'm sure you have tried)
Try plugging it into another tower or on a laptop to see if the monitor is fine and the video card is not to blame.
