Try replacing the plug.could also be a spark problem from the coil .you can purchase a spark tester which you can fit between the plug and lead .pull start mower and watch if spark is good.if ok then get a can of carby clean start mower and spray carby clean spareingly while running and if it keeps going the fuel is the problem
Mathieu. It sound like you have overfilled it with oil. Drain most of it out the leave it level. A lawnmower will run better with it not being overfilled. Clean the spark plug and heat it gently to completely remove traces of oil. John
you need to remove the carb from the engine, tear down(don't worry they don't have many parts inside) and soak and then use carb cleaner or compressed air to blow out the ports insind the carb. this should solve your problem.
if the spark plug is failing due to build up and you have to keep taking it off and cleaning it then you have some oil blowing by the rings causing the spark plug to get to hot and quit working, put a new spark plug in and then start it let it run for a few minutes then shut it off check spark plug if there is oil on it then you will need to overhaul the engine its not that expensive
You need to check a few things. The spark first, you need to check if it is running correctly, does it have spark, by doing this: take out the spark, put it against a metal surface and pull the pull start if it spark, your good if not you need a new spark plug. Clean out your airfiilter it migth help too. Buy some carb and choke cleaner squirt it up theough the airfilter hole, and start the engine, this will clen the carb. yOU MIGHT NEED TO TAKE OUT THE CARB AND CLENA I OUT THROUGHOULY!!! Try that and it whould work after all these steps!
IN your problem it might also be for some reasons like the crankshaft is bent, that damages the motor internally and cannot be fixed, hppens on older mowers. and is caused by when you run over twigs and branches andything hard!
Most likely the carburetor is not ok. An engine does not just DIE. If you press the prime bulb, does fuel squirt in carb. If it starts the runs for about 3-5 seconds then dies, there is most likely a float or needle shut off problem. Or it could be as simple as a clogged carburetor. It only takes one tiny peice to clog one. Take the carb off and make sure all jets( small holes in carb) are clean. Mike. Rate 100% please.
