Turn the carb mixture screw all the way in until it bottoms out and count the turns as you do that, then turn it out the same number of turns plus 1/2 more and see how it idles, if it runs poorly try turning it in and out slightly for best idle.
check to see if cable is in one piece, not broken! look down where it hooks to the engine while accelerating, you should see a lever move on engine, if so then it may need the accelerate adjusted!
if the idle is too high the tines wont stop due to the tiller tines are run by a "centrifuigual clutch" which means when you increase the throttle speed the tines will start to turn : there are 2 adjustments you can try,1) adjust the idle screw under the carburetor where the throttle adjustment and a triangle piece of metal touch(your throttle cable wire will be attached to this triangle) ,if the triangle and idle adjustment don't touch and there's a gap between these 2 pieces close the gap by adjusting the 10mm adjusting nut,this will correctly set the idle #2) adjust the idle adjustment screw talked about above till the tines dont turn with throttle set at idle or lowest speed setting
Hello, My name is Dane and I am going to assist you in solving your problem. You should have an idle screw adjustment on the carb to adjust the idle RPM. As you pull the trigger, watch on the carburetor for a small moving plate. The idle screw should touch that plate. Be very careful, and have someone hold the tiller and start it. Sounds like you may have a issue with the high and low idle not set properly and will need to set them to make them work. I would adjust the low idle tell it sounds like it wants to fire (sputters) then adjust the high idle tell it stays running
i'm having the same problem. cleaned carb but didn't help. I found that if I spray starting fluid on the gasket between the carb and the motor it speeds up. I'm going to try to find a new gasket, I can't tighten it anymore.

Your quickest fix for this problem is to simply replace the carburetor, a Zama K54A. Do it all the time. After that, if you can find a 2 cycle oil, Opti-2, it's the best you can use and it's a one mix for all your 2 cycle equipment (blowers, trimmers, chainsaws, etc.) It's the only 2 cycle I sell in my shop.
