Well, here I am again. I fixed my husbnad's mp3, but now I don't remember how to change the MTP to USB. I have been in the settings folder and there is no such choice. I think I have lost almost all my brain cells! I want to add the micro chip but the player does not recognize it when it is installed. Of course, I want to take this as my recorder to Africa, leaving Wed morning. Life is good, just I create my own problems!!
Thanks...m oh, my mpe3 is the same as husbands. my info says v3.01.14a 969mb 616 free 67 songs. Also, now it always turns on in FM mode. what did I do to this thing this time? :)

Hello, good that you found out how to get the player in the correct connection mode again.
The c200 players firmware version 2, take micro SD or SDHC cards with a maximum capacity of 4 GB.

Now that you can switch USB connection mode:
the player must be in MSC mode to get access to the SD card.

Having the player connected to the computer in MSC mode, the card should be available as an extra removable device when you explore "My Computer".Normally cards are preformatted (in FAT32) and transfers should be going easy with "paste and copy" or "drag and drop" method.
Before disconnecting in MSC mode always go through the icon in the right corner below "safely remove hardware". Click to remove the player's connection before taking out the USB cable.

In MTP mode in Windows Media Player there's a warning message
or text telling when you're allowed to disconnect.

Manual for c200 series players, version 2:

    Hello again,

It is the firmware, that's cheating.

Firmware v3.01.14 and lower, will have no menu for switching USB mode to MSC. Firmware is the program on the player to run the media data and for the menus to be displayed.

Fortunately, you can switch to MSC mode in 2 options:

    > 1

Forcing the player using the buttons on the device

(should work for all version 2 players and is mostly just used once, for updating firmware):

    1. Turn device OFF.
    2. Slide the hold switch to the direction of the headphone jack

so an orange color would show putting the device on Hold.
    3. Press and hold the ( |<< ) button while connecting the device to the PC.

    Remember: in MSC mode

before taking out the cable, always go through the safely remove hardware icon in the right corner below on the computer !

Update the firmware to a higher number.

I would advise this only when you have enough time, to look up all the "how to update" details.

The Sansa Firmware Updater should work on your computer to get the required update. (There's also a Sansa Forum for downloading firmware. But not needed, running Windows XP)

Important: When updating firmware, all data will be deleted from the player !

Go to next page for how to update the firmware:

    http://kb.sandisk.com/app/answers/detail...

There's a lot of information, but the screenshots under METHOD 1 explain how to use the sansa updater.

When not having the updater installed on the computer, use the link in the screen under METHOD 1 to get to next download page:

    http://kb.sandisk.com/app/answers/detail...

On the download page, select Download Sansa Firmware Updater.

The easiest way is, to run the execute file directly. This will install the Sansa Firmware Updater onto the computer.

For playing music from startup, select:

    Menu

    Music

Play All (or a specific category: only available if the information is present in the music data and attached to the song (called ID3 tag)

    Forcing MSC mode:

Hope I gave clear and enough information.

Just return with comment, when needing more help.

Deleting unwanted songs

The Sansa M200 series devices do not allow deletion of downloaded content directly from the device. You must connect he device to PC/Mac via USB to delete downloaded content. You will also need to use media software such as Windows Media Player, Rhapsody, iTunes, etc.. to see all of the music content on the player to be able to delete the songs you don't want. (i.e. just viewing the device in Windows Explorer might not show everything that is on he player.)
