Why does my abs and traction contro light stay on

have scanned for trouble code --check and test brakes--abs sensors--connectors --wiring and hubs

Today, most new vehicles come with either an ABS or a traction control system. A problem in the ABS or traction control system is usually indicated by a warning light. When the ABS warning light is on, it means that the ABS has been shut down because of a mechanical or electrical failure.

The light being on means the system has detected a problem in one or more sensors. The vibration is the ABS modulating the brakes to prevent skidding because it has detected a wheel that is locked up. That wheel is most likely the one sensor that is giving you the error.

Hi William the ABS and cruise contro are both linked it could be a wheel speed sensor or a damaged active bearing. The best way to be sure is to get it plugged in to diagnose correctly. Regards Jim...

Its most likely a bad ABS (anti-lock brake system) speed sensor. ABS pump or modulator assembly. When the light is on, your vehicle does not have the benefit of the ABS and traction control features.

I have a 2001 Cadillac Deville with 105,000 miles. The ABS and Traction Control light stay on. What could be the problem? Could I reset the ABS and Traction Control light?

The abs light , when on turns off the traction control thats why that light is on,once the abs is repaired the traction light will go out, you need to first have the computer scanned for codes, the codes for the abs are stored in the abs computer, these codes will tell you what part of the system is not working. most of the time its a wheel speed sensor but scanning the codes is needed to find out,

had my 2000 chev impala 3.8 liter ,traction control llight and abs light both go on the reset it and go right back on .so i replaced both sides of the bearing hub assembly this is connected the senser,so far so good.replaced it dec 21 2009 about 3 hours ago. because the assembly came appart when took off.

Sounds like you have a problem in the front brakes or a front wheel speed sensor. A common cause for a Traction light is a faulty front ABS wheel speed sensor or harness. When the Anti lock brake computer sees a problem in the ABS syetm, it disables traction control as well.
