Try checking the inlet solinoid , should be 1 for hot & cold, sometimes the solinoid will freeze up due to alkaline buildup .try soaking it in CRL , alkaline deposit desolving liquid .
I think you can fix this yourself if you can see the latch itself. There should be some screws at or near the latch that can be removed. this would allow you to physically get to the latch and check it out. It may be that the latch is broken or loose OR it may be where the latches "catches" that could be the problem also. You are probably looking at an hour's work.
