I not sure if this is feature of the cook top or a defect. But the manuall says there is sensor which monitor the heat and if exceds a limit, it cycles on/off. But mine one does this 3 times per minuts. is it ok or problem.I not sure if this is feature of the cook top or a defect. I understand you want to know how to turn the "Hot" service light, and cool the burner on your Frigidaire cooktop, model# GLEC30S8. I suggest resetting your appliance, by either unplugging it or shutting the power off at your home's circuit breaker, for 3-5 minutes. Restore power and start any burner. I ask that you please follow up with a comment on the post, at your convenience, to advise if further troubleshooting is needed or if your appliances status has changed successfully. Hope this is helpful.
I am assuming your cooktop is electric and your have a glass top, if so the burners sensor is bad and you might need to replace the burner. Again before buying anything and for me to help you, I would need a full model number. Some model have plate sensors and with no plate/pot burner cycles. Most of the time I find the sensor in the burner cant detect the heat and this ends up being a safety issue to protect the unit. All this information is based on the premise you have an electric cooktop and a glass surface.
One of the high heat sensors has failed on one of the burners under the glass. Disconnect one sensor at a time to find out which one, then replace that burner assembly.
Water has gotten into one of the igniter switches (below the burner knob). Disconnect power, let it dry out for several hours, and things should work again just fine.
find the spark module. Follow the spark wires to the module . unplug the one that doesn't work and plug in a working wire. If it sparks it the wire if it doesn't spark change module
its a gas cooktop it has to be plugged in somewhere op e the cabinet and unplug it. possible that the electrodes got wet and click from a false sense of continuity, after being unplugged overnight that will sometimes be enough. you also might have a bad start switch on one of hte burners causing the machine to click automatically. try unplugging over night first
Andy, sounds like you lost a leg of power. Check the breaker box first. Maybe the contractors tapped an existing breaker instead of adding one for the burner/broiler. You would have to check the terminal block on the range. Should read 120V from each end to center and 220V across the two outer terminals. If you don't have this, something got messed up with the contractors. Catriver..post back
