Make sure the stop motion wheel is tight, if it will not tighten you will need to undo the stop motion wheel, undo the screw that is in the stop motion wheel, unscrew the stop motion wheel all the way off and you will see a three pronged washer, take the washer off and put it in a different position, put the stop motion wheel back on and tighten to finger tight, screw the screw back up in the stop motion wheel, a final turn one the the stop motion wheel to tighten then test, if it does not work put the three pronged washer in a different position even upside dowm.

How to thread Elnita needle please?

Question edited for clarity and spelling 'Elinita' to 'Elnita'..

All sewing machines have maker name, friendly name and a model number. I see 6 models that are 'Elna Elnita'. With all three you can search for the manual.

How do you thread an elnita 200 ?

How to thread and use Elna SU sewing machine

Athough most likely not your model, threading instructions are pretty much the same for the majority of machines except in extreme cases. Of course, a manual for your machine would also be helpful, even just for the maintenance and use instructions.

Tip: ALWAYS RAISE the presser foot when threading the top thread. Always start out with a brand new needle (and change it at least every 8 hours of sewing time).

My Elnita 245i is squeaking when it goes forward, but not in reverse. Ive oiled inside the needle mechanism and bobbin case areas. No change. It is also breaking top thread after 6 inches

..

If your machine is mechanical (not computerized), it could very well benefit from a good cleaning and oiling, including the internal mechanical movement. Squeaking could be the feed dogs but could be a multitude of places.

When threading the machine, be sure to ALWAYS raise the presser foot. The fact that the top thread is breaking about 6 inches into the sewing indicates that the thread is catching somewhere. Sometimes, it catches on the thread notch on the thread spool. Other possibilities is that the thread is looped around something, ie the spool pin, a thread guide... Remove the thread entirely from the machine and rethread from the beginning.

Elnita 130 sewing machine is weak when starting

So, the motor is straining to run the machine? Your machine is mechanical? Then, the old oil has most likely solidified and is preventing the machine parts from moving freely. Do not force the motor until you can get the issue addressed or you may burn out the motor. The following method has worked on several old Berninas that were seized:

Elnita

The top thread breaks

1. the needle thread is not threaded properly

2. The needle thread tension is to tight

3. The needle is bent or blunt

4. The needle is incorrectly inserted

5. The needle thread & the bobbin thread are not set under the presser foot when starting to sew

6. the threads were not drawn to the rear after sewing

7. The thread is either to heavy or to fine for the needle

8. Try a different spool or cone of thread

How do you thread an Elnita 140 sewing machine that is really old but can still work?

It's easy! Start from the thread holder at the top and go left - hook it under the hook which is behind the round disc that the bobbin winds around, then forward down thru the tension, then under the straight metal bit that's below and slightly to the left of the tension, then up into the hook (slide it behind and then slide forward into the hook), then back down and flip it into the small hook (which is just under the 'straight metal bit' mentioned above) and thru the needle! :-) Hope that helps. The machine might be an oldie but it's a goodie! cheers Lynda
