Connecting a 2 part oven to a single 32amp cooker point.

I am an electrician about to connect a 2 part oven to an existing 32 amp cooker point, although each part is supplied with a 2.5sq mm flexible cable the actual current rating of each part is in excess of 13 amps. The installation manual suggest each unit be either connected to a respective socket outlet or by direct connection through individual double pole isolators. Can you suggest how this be best achieved using the existing 32A cooker point. I cannot connect both these flexes to the existing point since to do so means each individual flex is not adequately protected in accordance with BS7671 Regulation 433-02-01. The only socket that could be used is either the old 15A round pin or a 16A type to IEC309 but the latter is precluded in domestic installations since it is not fitted with safety shutters as required by BS7671 Regulation 553-01-04 and in any case these would have to be protected in accordance with their current rating.

SOURCE: Speedstream 4200 setup

I have just set up 4200 with dsl - you may find that you need to reset modem before you can configure. I was told that you need either a grey or yellow cable from your laptop to the modem. I use 10.0.0.138 to access modem. The 4200 I have was from a bigpond a/c - originally configured accordingly.

Richard

If I have a double 30 amp breaker can I plug in a cooker that needs 208 volts single phase, the plug and wall receptacle match

no
the house wiring for single phase outlets is rated to 10 amps and what you intend to do will burn the wiring
you will have to install a dedicated circuit that is capable of carrying the full 30 0 amps
contact an accredited electrician for correct advice and how to do it

HOW TO WIRE A SINGLE INTEGRATED OVEN? Can it be wired into the mains cooker point?

An integrated oven that has a 13 amp plug can be wired into a cooker point without any concerns since you are wiring it into a feed that is capable of handling a greater power requirement than is needed.

For the avoidance of doubt, the other way around, if you are considering putting a 13 amp plug on a unit that is designed for direct hardwiring into a cooker point, you should think again because it is probably capable of drawing more current than the 13 amp socket could safely handle

We bought a discounted display model Neff single oven from Comet and have booked an electrician to wire it in however there don't appear to be any cables coming out of the back of the cooker so how is the...

He will probably hard wire it from the terminal block inside the back panel of the oven into the cooker switch or outlet plate on the wall.(providing there is one, if not he will have to wire it back to the main fusebox) .

Our zanussi cooker is tripping out. Any idea what fault might be? Is it worth getting a zanussi electrician or a local electrician to look? Thanks in advance

Hello,

if it trips as soon as you turn on a certain function that may point you in the right direction. If it trips when you just turn on at mains with no funtions set then it would be advisable to get the zanussi man out most leckys will find fault but tell you to get service man to sort it.
Hope I was helpful.

Good Luck.

Electrical output requirement for a buit-in oven and cooktop

Providing the existing switch outlet iscontrolled by a 30amp circuit fuse or trip, then there is no problem connecting the 2 appliances to the same switch.
If on the other hand, it is controlled by a 13 amp breaker, then you cannot connect both appliances to this, you would have to use 2 seperate sockets.
Hope this clarifys your question.

Just had delivered Boch HBM13B221B Double oven. There is no cable. How do I attach it to the electrics in the house

Hi.
You need to wire it up with 6mm twin and earth cable.
You must connect it to a seperate 30amp double pole cooker box, and nothing else.
Do not onder any circumstances connect it to a 13 amp socket outlet,
Unless you have a good knowledge of electrics, then I would recommend you get a qualified electrician to wire it in for you.
Please rate my solution.
Thankyou.

Bosch hba34b520

Yes, it is o/k to have a single oven connected to a 13 amp power supply supplied with a 2.5mm cable.
A lot of single ovens already come with a 13 amp plug fitted, so you can plug it straight into a 13 amp socket.
If there is no covenient socket nearby, then you can wire the 2.5mm cable srtaight into the oven terminal block.
I must stress that this only applys to a single oven and not a double one.
Plz rate my solution.
Thanks.
