I would suggest to call the place where you bought it and ask them for an authorized repair center. You TV still under manufacturers warranty.
I could fix it for you. I live in Brampton.

This may have to do with the settings on your DVD player or cable/satellite box. Change the settings on those devices to output the desired resolution (720p) and adjust your TV settings appropriately. More details about the TV settings can be found in the owner's manual.
Check your warrenty to see if the tv is still covered. If not, I would just buy another dvd player and attach it to the tv, it would be cheaper then repearing the tv.
The reason you can't pull-up the Mintek website is because the company is out of business. I have one that is frozen on one channel and none of the buttons or remote will work. I took it to a repair shop and the said one of the circuit boards is bad but since the company is out of business they can't get the needed part. The only way to get the part is to find a set which can be cannabalized for the needed parts.
Are you trying to play DVD's you've made or copied yourself or new one's you buy from an actual distributor? Because sometimes self-ripped Cd's & DVD's won't play on a LOT of DVD players. Otherwise it's bad DVD player and you should go get it swapped out if it's not too late.
