We are using a MegaRAID 320-2 storage controller to connect a Proliant DL360 server and an old Compaq 4314r storage chassis. The controller cannot recognize anything beyond 7 drives in the chassis. LSI claims the problem is not with the controller. Why can't the controller recognize the other 3 drives in the chassis?

I am trying to boot a HP DL360 g3 from a flash drive. I get to the boot order menu, but it is not showing up. Any ideas?

This is a long shot, but:

  • Get into BIOS settings
  • System Options, Diskette Boot Control, Disabled
  • Save on Exit
Machines from 2006 were really not very good at booting from USB.

Hi, I want to install an Ubuntu server edition on my HP proliant dl360 G3 series. This install is located on a USB-stick and I want to install it from there. How do I do this? Thanks in advance.

You firstly have to make your usb key bootable just google instructions on how to do that.
Set the boot order in the bios to boot from it and then transfer the image to the usb key and install from it.

I can´t use a serial ata disk in a proliant 350

I know ATA disks are cheaper , but they don't last as long or are less reliable.

I do not recommend mixing SCSI and ATA .

Use one or the other , not both.

Do not try , unless your server is non critical.
If it is non critical , why bother with server , a PC will do as well.

Thanks
David
