When I used the button on the front of my LCD tv to turn it on, there was a static shock. Now none of those front buttons work (power, channel +/-, volume +\-), and when you use my satellite remote to turn on the TV the volume drops immediately to zero and you cannot turn it up. The picture is still fabulous....the manufacturer went bankrupt two years ago (Olevia)....do I have to buy a new TV?

Static electricity can damage the chips on the boards. it all depends were the static voltage went to, if it was just to the buttons controller board or to the main av board. you could need new button board or you could need to replace the main board and the button board its hard to say with static shock.

Hi,
I own the same TV and had the same problem.
It's the #1 plaguing issue with flat panel TV made by Funai corp. Emerson is made by them.
Normally, when this happens, the TV goes into " Protection Mode " because of a failing circuit board.
The most common thing to go out on flat panel TVs is the circuit board that supply power to the screen. Commonly called a Backlight Inverter Board. But, I can't say it's 100% the problem because I can'tactually look at the tv over the internet. I can only make guesses with the symptom. I'm willing to bet you have the same problem like mine. One of six Inverter Transformers when bad on my Power/Backlight Inverter Supply Board. I replaced it and it works fine again.
You have a few choices:
1. You can try leaving the TV unplugged for 30 minutes so the TV can reset itself.
2. If by chance the TV is still under warranty, go that route.
3. If you have some electronic experience, if you can find and purchase a Service Manual at Tvtechcenter.com; It will help you diagnose the source of the problem and fix it by soldering in the new part. The Service Manual will give you circuit diagrams, test points, and part# lists.Usually, cost under $6. And most cases the new part cost less than $15. The service manual at the site is under LC320EM82S.
4. Pay a TV shop to do the repairs. It maybe costly, but get an estimate of how much they will charge. That way you can decide if it worth repairing or replacing the whole TV.
I hope I shed some light on the subject for you.
SOURCE: Emerson TV LC320EMXF Remote code for Direc TV
I got the same TV for my stepdaughter and had the same problem. None of the Emerson codes worked. We use Dish Network but I did the autoscan thing on the remote and found that it was 672 which is listed as a Sylvania. I don't know if it will help in your case but maybe try the Sylvania codes. Good luck.

I succeeded is using the DirectTV remote control for the Emerson 42" plasma TV, by using a Samsung code. On my TV, was 10060. If this one does not work, there are a bunch of others that might work. Good luck

What "existing cable/tv outlet" are you talking about exactly? Do you mean a cable wall connection? If so, that will only work if the service is active. If you mean you connected the antenna to the cable connection on the TV, then now you just need to set the TV
dug7989 is correct... most TV stations do not broadcast in analog anymore, however, your location may be different. Most of us don't receive any analog channels at all.
To get your digital channels, make sure you have an antenna (amplified work a little better) connected to the TV, and change your "input selection" to video. You can do this on the remote or the TV. Then go to the settings menu, select digital (not analog) and re-scan. Since this TV has a digital tuner, you won't need the analog converter used for older sets. Hope this helps!
