Goldstar GHD30 shuts off immediately when turned on! I hit the reset button and hold it in, and it begins to function, however once I remove my finger from the button it stops immediately! Is the Compressor gone, or does it need a freon recharge? Anybody know?

What are my humdity settings for DH504E Unit?

Simply put the humidity extraction settings generally range from 35% to 65%. The lower the percentage, the more humidity is removed and the house feels more comfortable. The higher the percentage, the more humidity remains in the house. In the hot humid Summer months, you want the humidity in the house to be as low as possible (i.e. 35%-45%) in the cooler months a higher humidity
( 60%) make the house feel more comfortable and does away with carpet static shock.

Choosing a setting is your decision, based on what I have explained above and your own comfort level.

I hope my information has helped you and thanks for choosing FixYa.

My DH40 unit kicks on and off very frequently while the fan is constantly running. What do I need to do?

Toni, this sounds like the humidity extraction level is set to high. Lower it to 32 - 35%. The fan is running in an effort to recirculate the air. If the unit senses a rise in humidity above the level you have it set on, the compressor will turn on to extract the rise in humidity. That's why I think your level is set to high.

Hope this helped you to troubleshoot and solve the problem.

My dehumidifier kicks on for about 20 seconds and then kicks right back off!

What sometimes causes that, is that the water collection bucket is not sitting in the unit properly/tightly. When the unit turns ON, the vibration causes the bucket to move and lose contact with bucket safety removal switch. Try removing the bucket and reinstalling so that the top and bttom of the bucket fit squarely into the holder and the bottom doesn't tilt downward.

Also, check the humidity extraction level. It may be set to high. Lower it to 32-35%.

Hope this helps you troubleshoot and solve the problem. Please let me know. Thanks.

Humidity sensor reads to low and does not kick the machine on. The readout seems to always be at 20% and wont kick on till 35% Is there an adjustment i can make to tuen the unit on?

It probably doesn't need adjusting, It's simply a case that 20%, there's not enough humidity for the sensor to read. But, at 35% there is. I'd say, your dehumidifier is working as it should.
FYI - there is no adjustments to change the factory settings.

Hope this helped you, chu.

Just wanna know how to set the temperature on it

dehumidifiers do not have a temperature control, rather, they have a humidity control. usually you set the humidity control to go off when the level of moisture in the room reaches normal (approx. 25-35% winter;38-55% summer). Best way is to run it at full on for 1 to 4 days (until you know the moisture level is how you want it), then turn the knob until the unit goes off . This will be the ideal setting. Goodluck<Macgivor

Relative humidity setting changes

My guess is the unit knows it can't reach 35% humidity, bacause it's measuring the ambient humidity. Dehumidifiers usually can't drop the RH more than around 10%.

My guess is the RH in the room is around 75% when this happens.

Does Not Collect Water

sounds like a faulty humidistat, but may also be nearly out of freon. I have a GE unit that is also a portable air conditioner...works great for 5 years now...

Temp and humidity levels are not correct

It sounds as if the temperature sensor probe is touching the cold coil inside. The sensor is located in the incoming airflow, in front of the cold coil. It must not touch the coil. This should be visible with the cover off. You can gently bent the sensor away fron the coil, 1/4-1/2" of clearance is plenty.
