Ar4217 runs fast now stopped

My ar4217 has run fast since I got it, but irregularly. Now it has stopped completely. I have had it repaired twice but it made no difference. Anyone else with this problem? Do I have a lemon? I haven't dropped it at all, I work at a desk so no hard knocks. Many thanks jbl

I have never had a watch that ran as poorly as yours seem to be doing. You have a lemon orchard!

Perhaps if you contact the maker they might take pity on you and offer you a replacement. http://store.emporioarmaniwatches.com/ Scroll down to the bottom of the page to see the contact address.

TAG watch is running fast

You need to find a qualified watchmaker to correct this problem.

If the movement was replaced twice the same problem would not be happening again and again unless there is something you are doing that puts the watch in some kind of field to magnetize it or the place you took it to did not really do anything.

My guess is they did not do anything since you say they oiled the crystals. Just oiling a watch will not solve this problem. A qualified watchmaker would know this.

Hope this helps,

Ken

Watch has been running fine, now running fast.

HI there,

If you have an Automatic Wrist watch. Some adjustment has to do inside the watch. You better bring the unit to any local watch repair shop to adjust or correct the polarity of the energizer.

Hope this helps.

Hi. I have a vintage Omega 505 movement, auto wind. It runs so fast, it gains2-3 hours in a 24 hour period of time. What might be the problem, and what would be the cost to repair? Thanks. Butch2k

The hairspring in your watch must be degreased and demagnetized.
Coils of hairspeing is touching and this is why your watch is running so fast.
This can be done at any watch repair shop and should not cost too much as no repairs will be carried out. This job can be done in an hour, so, while you'll be shoping or having a cup of coffee.
Find your nearest watch repair shop and ask to sort out the hairspring.

Breitling problem

This usually occur when the hairspring is disturbed ( some grease, dust particle, etc). Can be magnetized as well.
You need to find your nearest watch repairer and ask to overhaul your watch. After that it will run like new.

Vintage Caravelle runs fast

A quick look at ebay shows plenty of Bulova watches and only a few looking for a worthwhile price.

I think if you have it repaired for sale it probably won't be worth the effort or expense. If the watch has sentimental or nostalgia value to you I think that is what would make it worth getting a good watchmaker to look at it.

Runs Fast

Usually when a watch with a mechanical movement is running fast its is because the adjustment on the hairspring is advanced to far. Since it wasn't running fast to begin with I can assume its because something was knocked loose. It is possible that a tiny drop of oil was on the hairspring and by knocking the watch two coils are stuck together by the oil. (this usually only happens if it has been over oiled by an amature watch repairer) Magnitization is possible but pretty unlikely, unless you play with Big coils of wire that are carrying a LOT of current. Either way, unless you know what you're doing and have the right tools, you are looking at taking it to a Tag repair center. Since a simple tune up can cost about $250, I'd expect to pay $400 to $500 for that one. Welcome to the wonderful world of high end watches.
